Dr. Drew's Alleged Stalker Pleads Not Guilty

3/5/2010 7:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Dr. Drew Pinsky's alleged stalker Charles Pearson just pled not guilty to six felonies -- one count stalking and five counts of criminal threats.

During Pearson's arraignment, which took place moments ago in Pasadena, CA, his bail was upped to $400,000.

A protective order was also issued, which states Pearson must stay 500 yards away from Dr. Drew, his wife and children for three years.

Pearson -- who was arrested on Wednesday at Pierce College in Woodland Hills after he allegedly sent Dr. Drew threatening messages over the Internet -- is due back in court on March 18.

How a guy with such severe delusions is supposed to accurately estimate the 1,500 feet mentioned in the protective order sounds like a challenge. But how he's going to come up with the $400,000 in bail would seem to render it moot.

Clearly, Pearson has developed schizophrenia. He has a brain
disorder that needs treatment by medication. Unfortunately,
schizophrenics are notorious for stopping their medication as
soon as they feel better. They don't seem to be able to grasp the
reality that their meds are the reason they feel better. I think he needs to be in a supervised living facility for mentally ill people. Schizophrenia is such a sad illness, and it cruelly strikes primarily young adults. There is no cure; only treatment.

P.S. I think Pearson may be more sane than most of the posters to
this story. Yikes!

LadyLinguistique,

There are other metal disorders that can cause the type(s) of behavior he's exhibiting. You need to leave his diagnosis up to the professional(s) that eventually end up seeing him.

And, P.S., I wouldn't exclude you from your last comment.

I totally agree. It can be one of several mental disorders. Not to mention there's alot of stalkers out there who don't have a disorder at all. If he needs meds, he'll get them.

does a $400,000 bail make any sense here??? I mean dr. drew isn't the president and I certainly don't think if little old me complained that some man was send me threatening messages over the internet that a) the police would care and b) the courts would give the guy any bail even in the five figures
