Farrah Fawcett Forgotten at Oscars

3/8/2010 10:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Farrah FawcettFarrah Fawcett did not make the cut for this year's In Memoriam tribute during last night's Academy Awards telecast ... leaving many scratching their heads.

Despite appearing in such classics as "Sunburn," "Saturn 3," "The Cannonball Run" and "Dr. T and the Women," Fawcett was passed over for more household names ... like Michael Jackson.

An Academy spokesperson told the AP, "Every year it's an unfortunate reality that we can't include everybody."

Maybe if Farrah had raped a bunch of little kids the way Jacko did they would have "remembered" her.

Ok I get that there were people left out such as Farrah, Bea Arthur, etc.. But keep in mind these people may be "icons" thing is they werent in "the movies/industry" I was actually suprised Patrick Swayze was not acknowledged, he had award winning films such as dirty dancing, red dawn and who can forget Ghost?

Michael Jackson sang Ben, which got nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song.
He was in The Wiz and Thriller is actually considered a short film and attempted to be nominated.
It was just put into the National Film Registry.
He was also a part of movie soundtracks.
His song Ghosts is also a part of a music video thats considered a movie.

I didn't watch the show, but after reading acouple of articles regarding this - how many people knew who Brittney Murphy was versus Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur. Simply appalling their decision.

There is no need to pick on Michael! They didn't put him in the list on the Grammys! I'm sorry Farrah and Bea were not included but that doesn't mean you should bash a wonderful person like Michael over it! Human beings make mistakes, it happens. LOVE

who has the facts? ME

Shame on the Academy - they should be apologizing, not making excuses.
Farrah and Bea Arthur SHOULD have been included - it was a mistake and they need to own it.
Also - Patrick Swayze was the first one shown---at a distance so you didn't really even see him.
The whole thing was a disaster.

They didn't have time to include ONE MORE person in that montage? Yet they had plenty of time for that nonsensical dance number. And don't get me started on the 20 minutes love-fest they spent on the best actor/actress nominees.

I've watched every televised Academy Awards show since the first in 1953, and the "In Memoriam" section invariably was a moving and special part that transcended the show as a whole. Last night's was truly offensive! Not only were Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur not included (inexcusable!), but as wonderful a performer as James Taylor is, his vocalisations were a terrible fit for that segment. If the Academy wants to honor the deceased people the public has never heard of, why not include them in a special presentation during the other non-Oscar broadcast award's ceremonies?

Academy 2010 Big Snub - Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett was not mentioned in the Memorial.

What a big SLAP in the face, to one of America’s most beloved actress.

Not even in death can she get any respect.

Farrah has made many theatrical movies - IMDB

Mayra Breckenridge, Sunburn, Logan’s Run (Oscar Winner), Somebody killed her Husband (co-starring Jeff Bridges) (This years BIG WINNER) I’m surprised Jeff didn’t mention her. Man of the House, The Apostle (Oscar Nominated), Extremities.

Bea Arthur (Golden Girls/Mame) and Ricardo Montalban (Fantasy Island) were also omitted from The Memorial.

um, no thanks

I saw every second of the awards show and you mean to tell me they could not squeeze in 2 seconds putting her picture up there.
Watch the the James Taylor song, they stayed on him too long in the opening and too long in the end like they were short on deaths.
Anyone who has spent anytime in an edit bay in front of an AVID knows they could have easily put her in there keeping things the same borrowing a few measley frames here and there.
In Memoriam is the most important part of the show.
That was hands down the worst show they have put on in years and the host even did a pretty good job.
It was poorly planned, produced and directed which was obvious by how long it ran not even leaving time to announce the contenders for the best film and rushing through the main part of the show.
It was constant repetition, lame jokes poorly planned and thought out by people who lacked knowledge of what they were doing.
In a nut shell, it sucked, worst ever!

Snubbed because she is a "TV" actress. Surely people wouldn't think she was of the same acting calibur as Kristin Stewart.
Don't worry Farrah, your true fans remember you.

Oh, please.

Farrah was a TV not a movie star. Her death came far too early, but the Oscar is for film stars.
