Farrah Fawcett Forgotten at Oscars

3/8/2010 10:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Farrah FawcettFarrah Fawcett did not make the cut for this year's In Memoriam tribute during last night's Academy Awards telecast ... leaving many scratching their heads.

Despite appearing in such classics as "Sunburn," "Saturn 3," "The Cannonball Run" and "Dr. T and the Women," Fawcett was passed over for more household names ... like Michael Jackson.

An Academy spokesperson told the AP, "Every year it's an unfortunate reality that we can't include everybody."

This had to be THE worst Acadamy Awards I have ever seen. When the camera cut to the audience after an attempted joke from Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin most didnt crack a smile. George Clooney looked like he was in a foul mood most of the night. By far the travesty of the show was "In Memoriam". Snubbing such stars as Bea Authur, Farrah Faucett and not to mention Patrick Swayze's quick blip on screen was a slap in the face to thier families & fans. Poor show over all.

Oh but they could show many others again at the end (clips of Brittany Murphy, etc. were shown again after they went through all the names with photos). They couldn't put Farrah and Bea Arthur up for a second? Give me a break.

Maybe we should be asking who did Bea Arthur and Farrah piss off. Didn't anyone at the Academy think it odd to include Dom Delouise and NOT Farrah when they both appeared in the same movie together.

Farrah was a good actress. The other night I saw that movie where she plays Diane Downs, the woman who shot her children. One child died, one paralyzed and one traumatized. Farrah was great in that movie. It was a tough subject and Farrah was believable as the murderer. I agree with the others who have mentioned The Burning Bed and also the movie where she traps that rapist in the fireplace. All good movies. I think the (snobbish) Academy saw her as more of a television actor but then what movies did Michael Jackson ever do?

Michael Jackson only made "The Wiz", he doesn't belong on an Oscar memorium. I don't know what big screen movies Bea Arthur made but Farrah definitely made many movies. I know they try to hit every facet of Hollywood movie people - behind the camera and in front but Michael didn't belong there at all. Then in the last few seconds they repeated some people. Too bad for many people who worked in movies for decades and weren't noticed.

What an awful excuse! Can't they just admit that they forgot about her?? However, I can't see how they forgot about her! She died almost the same time!!!!

Could someone please explain to me why it is that Jackson (a musician not in film) made it on the memorial and he isn't even on the official Members Memoriam of the Academy. Yet Farrah who is on the list got bumped cause there wasn't enough time. The Academy owes the family and her fans a public apology.

Doesn't anyone at the Academy remember "The Apostle"? She was AMAZING in that!

It's ashame she wasn't included but like they said they can't include everyone. Just like Michael was not included at the Grammys or AMA's.

Interesting that they managed to put Michael Jackson in the presentation, whose closest achievement to the world of motion pictures was a music video ... but Farrah gets left out.

Oh now now now we cannot forget the career turning Michael Jackson performance in Men in Black II, or was it I. It was so good I don't remember.

Inexcusable Academy and they should be called to the carpet and apologize. Its not like they had a time cut off like with Heath Ledger. And Bea Arthur. Well I guess they couldn't have done what MJ did. Makes me sick.

That's BS Michael Jackson was a musician NOT an actor and should not of been remembered at the Oscars. It goes to show you that it's all political. I love Michael Jackson, BUT that was not right to skip Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur.

It's totally unacceptable. Farrah was incredibly popular not only in the US but WORLDWIDE, much than most of the names included in the In Memoriam section. It's a shame.....
