Oscars 'Kanye' Victim Gets Second Chance

3/8/2010 4:37 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Roger Ross Williams -- the guy who got Kanye'd last night on the Oscars by that crazy redhead -- will get a second shot at his acceptance speech tonight on "Larry King Live" ... so our spies tell us.

Larry King, Roger Ross Williams

Williams -- who won the Academy Award for "Music by Prudence" -- was interrupted mid-acceptance by producer Elinor Burkett.

Burkett and Williams had been feuding over creative control of the project, and they struck an out-of-court settlement. Burkett had been removed from the movie, but still kept her producer credit.

Here's the best part: Burkett tells Salon.com, when she stood up to go onstage, Williams' mom tried to block her with a cane.

UPDATE: Burkett will tell her side of the story to Joy Behar on her show on HLN at 9:00 PM on Tuesday night.

Sorry Elinor Burkett for my comments, you won also. Williams almost got all the credit. Sounds like Williams planned to make you look bad.

I'm sorry he wasn't 'kanye'd" He was just RUDE!!! And he deserved it!!! Every other oscar winner waited and went up with their respective group. He just left her behind and bolted up to start talking!! What happened to Chivalry?!?!?!? An older woman, in high heels, and at a classy event!!! He should have escorted her up to the stage and shared his time properly like everyone else!!! If i was his mother, I'd be embarrassed and i would have smacked him up side the head!!!! He's a RUDE SELFISH DISRESPECTFUL ASS!!! She was totally justified. Good for Elinor for taking back the mic.

She looked like a complete FOOL!!!! I cannot imagine being a family member of hers! No matter WHAT this idiot does in her life (unless she finds the cure for cancer) THIS is what she will be remembered for. Regardless of what went down between those two she came off as a selfcentered blatthering idiot. I felt so sorry for the girl I am assuming was the subject of the film. That f#t f#ck made it all about her. Well I hope she is happy with her 15 seconds of shame on stage. It will last a lifetime.

Yeah, the guy wasn't "Kayne'd", I thought so at first too and then I replayed it when they announced the award. It went to BOTH of them. And while he's up there, immediately accepting it, you can see the other Oscar waiting to be handed out to Elinor. The guy seems a little shady especially with the reports of his mother trying to block the lady with her cane.

Fashionlessssss

If you watch the video of the annoucement of the winners you will hear both of their names. The model that brought out the oscars brought 2 of them, one oscar for each of them. The academy awarded both of them an oscar for their contribution to the film. So... who edged who out? It's their problem to solve not ours.

no one cares what Joy Baher says; you only tune into that show if it's the only thing on in the nursing home, or if you want to get pissed off. & This woman had no right being on that stage. she should be ashamed of herself. Roger Ross Williams deserves acclaim for keeping his composure & not moving this woman out of the way. it's a pitty.

Now wait a minute you people who are saying, "But she won the Oscar, too!"

That is SO not the point here.

I agree that it appears that although she was kicked off the project, she retained her "producer" credit, which allowed her to be included in the Oscar win last night.

Also, I agree that it appears that some people were impeding her path to the stage to retrieve her award and speak.

However, and that is a BIG however, that most certainly DOES NOT excuse that cow from grabbing the microphone from Mr. Williams in the middle of his speech.

There have been MANY times - I would say almost EVERY time - when an Oscar win includes more than one person. No one EVER grabs the microphone in the middle of someone else's comments.

I understand that he was probably not going to give her the mic - that has no bearing on this, either. She is in the business and she knows as well as anyone that Mr. Williams is not the "keeper of the microphones" and after he said his piece, even if his piece went on until the music played, she would be able to get the mic after he spoke and at least get out a "Thank you very much" before she had to exit the stage.

So, regardless of the fact that she was due the Oscar and due the stage time, that is NO EXCUSE for her atrocious behavior. Perhaps Mr. Williams' mother behaved badly, but still, that is NO EXCUSE for Ms. Burkett's bad behavior. Other people's bad behavior does NOT excuse her bad behavior.

Nobody grabs a microphone out of someone's hand while they are in the middle of speaking, especially on national television - for ANY reason. SHE WAS WRONG - 100 percent WRONG.

She should have waited until Mr. Williams was finished, taken the mic at that point, and said whatever there was enough time at that point to say. If the music was playing them off already, she could still say "Thank you very much" over the music, as is done many times every year during the Academy Awards.

So please, DON'T try to excuse this woman's behavior because she was due the Oscar. THAT isn't the issue. The issue is HER inexcusably selfish and rude response. There was a way to have handled that situation, and she was clearly anticipating that there was going to be a problem, so she had plenty of time to decide upon a better way to handle it.

I hope she never gets another job.

THEY BOTH WORKED ON THE MOVIE,THEREFORE BOTH DESERVED AN ACCEPTANCE SPEECH.THE GUY WAS A BIT OF A BONEHEAD THE WAY HE WAS DANCING DOWN THE AISLES AND I CAN TOTALLY BELIEVE HIS MOM TRIPPED HER. AS A MOM MYSELF I KNOW THE FEELING OF PROTECTING YOUR CHILD.

They had creative differences to the point it ended up in court. HIS artistic vision is what ultimately won the Oscar. She had no right to speak, let alone that stunt she pulled.

Elinor Burkett was an obnoxious dog on stage and she needs to do about 172 hours of public service cleaning up crap at the zoo. The video and the background story don't lie. I suggest the Oscar stage managers have more security set up to stop BS like that from happening again.
