Merlin Olsen's wife has amended the lawsuit she and Merlin filed while he was alive, claiming NBC Studios, 20th Century Fox Film Corp., Sherwin Williams and others cost the former Los Angeles Rams star his life.
Olsen and his wife, Susan, previously sued 38 defendants, alleging they exposed the NFL Hall of Famer to Asbestos, allegedly causing him to develop mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer.
The asbestos exposure included stints doing construction work in high school and college, and later on TV and movie sets.
Olsen died earlier this month.

(Page 1 of 2) | 1 | 2 | Most Recent | Next 15 CommentsThere should be a law preventing people from filing any lawsuits until a certain period has gone by when they die. She's really making a fool out of herself and wasting a lot of money and time. Very sad.
One day the United States will wise up and make the accuser pay for the defendants legal bills if they lose. Here's another perfect example of searching for free money.
I feel really bad for Merlin Olsen's wife but she has no basis for this suit.
http://roostershamblin.wordpress.com/ please spend a few minutes reading my blog about everything chicken. I have been raising more than 50 breeds of chickens 40 years. Merlin Olsen was a good actor and he will be missed.
Um, if he got it from the studios where are all the other actors filing?
Everything is a hazard and some things we find out about too late, nobody knew back then what asbestos would bring.
He lived a good life, a long life and maybe you can just hold onto that and promote his memory instead of the last money grab. He was pro bowl how many times? He is immortalized on Little House and did some nice work on Father Murphy (though impossible to find that now). As a fan it is a shame his life cannot be celebrated instead of smudging all over tabloids for the lawsuit that cannot be won.
Susan,
perhaps you should listen to the man

sorry for your loss but let the foolishness go and get on w/your life
I lost my father to the same disease a few months ago. This is a horrible disease that many companies who knew of the dangers of asbestos continued to cover it up and expose employees to it. They should pay up and it should be a lesson for other companies. A human life is worth more than shareholder dividends!
He was 110 years old for crap sake!!!! Ya, lets find someone to sue.
Asbestos gets imbedded in your lungs and sits there for 30-40 years and then becomes cancer. Companies that expose their employees to asbestos should absolutely be held liable.
This Olsen suit is most likely part of a Class Action Suit. Usually they are started when attorneys have too mch time on their hands and not enough honest work. Once I signed on to a Class Action Suit against the airlines for price fixing and submitted about $40,000 in Airfare Receipts. The attorneys shook down the airlines and walked away with millions. I was sent 25 certificates for $25 off Full Fare only tickets. Being self employed I never flew Full Fare. I figured the Federal judge probably got his or the judge would have split the money with the plantiffs and given the attorneys the Full Fare discounts.
I remember him more from "Little House on the Prairie"... But how can they prove it was from the movie sets and not when he was working before that?
Also consider Michael Landon's set property in the SF Valley was on an old ammo dump or waste site the government sold him cheapo. Bunch of the folks on Little House went home early including Landon.
