'Discovery' Gunman Ordered to Mental Institution in '08

He only spent 14 days in jail for his last offense. Look what happened. They should have followed up on his status and made sure he went to a mental facility. My heart goes out to all those involved and hope this turns out better than expected.

I will never understand why authorities don't take mental illness more seriously. If this man is truly mentally ill and depending on what that mental illness he has the potential to be very violent. He can do great harm to others as well as himself. Paranoid schizophrenics who do not take meds can be killers one minute and totally docile the next.
