Glee Photo Shoot Draws Fire

'Borders on Pedophilia'

10/20/2010 12:05 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The producers of "Glee" are taking some serious heat over a sexually charged photo shoot involving three cast members -- with one powerful parents group saying the pictorial "borders on pedophilia."

The Parents Television Council has released a statement thrashing producers for allowing Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele to participate in a "hyper-sexualized" photo shoot for the November issue of GQ -- despite the fact that both actresses are 24 years old and Corey is 28.

The PTC declares, “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia."

The statement continues, "By authorizing this kind of near-pornographic display, the creators of the program have established their intentions on the show’s direction. And it isn’t good for families."

So we gotta ask ...

Ok, people have to give kids some credit. Growing up I was a Britney fan, even though she is not that older than me I understood that it was ok to learn her dance moves and practice it with friends in my house for fun, but i was not going to dress like her like shee did for a photo shoot. I understood it was photo shoot and that in a way she was allowed because she was an artist AND older than me. These girls are 24! please! they are actors. If these girls were dressing like that for their "school" it's different, but still it's TV.Kids know the difference, but if girls CHOOSE to imitate this side of them, well that's another issue.

It's not the first time they have had 20 something year olds (my age) playing teens. The picture is inappropriate, but if you are a teenager, you should be old enough to know better.

Huh?

Wait, people are making a fuss over these pictures featuring 2 girls over 21 and yet nothing is said of Taylor Momsen who is barely 17, wearing much less on the cover of Revolver? Can anyone explain that one?

There really isn't anything new here. The show is rated TV14, and in as early as the second episode they performed Salt N Peppa's Push It, which isn't exactly child friendly. Not to mention the teenage pregnancy, and the mentioned sexual act between Finn and Santana, and the almost sex scenes between Jesse and Rachel, and Will and Emma. Also this is nothing in comparison to Lea Michele's performance in Spring Awakening. Overall there is nothing new here, if parents actually watched the show, they wouldn't be surprised.

It's not pedophilia. Pedophilia is the attraction of adults to pre-pubescent children.

If this is pedophilia then every one of us was a pedophile when we were in high school.

I'm not getting into my manifesto here, but this was pretty disturbing. I wouldn't oppose this photo shoot if Cory, Lea and Dianna weren't in character, but keeping them in McKinley High and having us think of them as 16-year-olds in these poses is too much.

Parents Television Council? Who in the world has ever heard of such an organization or cares what they say or think. It appears to be 1 guy. Go on their website and look at their so called Board of Directors. Most look like Obit pictures from yesteryear. 20 years ago people actually listened to pretend organizations, but now we realize the people preaching their morales are the same people doing the nasty things they tell others not to do.

Everyone knows this is not a picture of teenagers. I would be concerned if any of them were under 18, but they aren't. Let it go.. try your best to police your kids, not the world.

Yes...these actors may be in their 20's but they are playing high school kids! Come on...the guy's hands are on the girls butts and a girl is spreading her legs? This behavior is exploiting young girls and sending an inappropriate message to our youth? For those of you bashing the PTC...well...I agree with them because it is obvious that you don't have kids or you don't have a clue about the effects on children. I work with children who watch this show and this is unacceptable for a family show. Btw, this has been considered a family show.

If the viewers weren't pissed about a teenage boy praying to Jesus to touch a girls breast then they certainly shouldn't be upset about these photos.

Ok, so I've got to put in my two cents...yes, they are over 18 and yes, they portray high schoolers, but what young teen is going to go buy GQ? In my opinion, if they are so young that they would actually be influenced by seeing this and buy it at the store, then where was the parental influence? AND, if they are older and can go get it on their own, and are influenced, either 1) they are adult age where they can make their own choices or 2) you failed as a parent by not teaching them any morals and values...it's time to stop blaming the media for everything wrong, when in reality, if you are a good parent and teach your kids right from wrong, then they will have no problem and won't be influenced by ACTORS. If these girls wanted to pose for this, then good for them, that's their choice, they are adults. But, it's up to parents to teach their kids, not the television.

Parents Groups - read as born again christian whackjobs with letter/email writing campaigns. They should be ignored. In the land of majority rule they should be marginalized and castigated for not recognizing 1st Amendment Rights. **** those prudes too.

Also as noted the shoot and cast can't be pedo since they're all adults on the cast. Stupid ass comments like that are why "parents groups" are typically full of estrogen soaked evangelical idiots out of touch with reality.

Seriously, STFU and raise your kids correctly. Adults can pose however they choose in magazines. Stop letting Kathy Lee Gifford think for you, LOL.
