Glee Photo Shoot Draws Fire

'Borders on Pedophilia'

10/20/2010 12:05 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The producers of "Glee" are taking some serious heat over a sexually charged photo shoot involving three cast members -- with one powerful parents group saying the pictorial "borders on pedophilia."

The Parents Television Council has released a statement thrashing producers for allowing Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele to participate in a "hyper-sexualized" photo shoot for the November issue of GQ -- despite the fact that both actresses are 24 years old and Corey is 28.

The PTC declares, “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia."

The statement continues, "By authorizing this kind of near-pornographic display, the creators of the program have established their intentions on the show’s direction. And it isn’t good for families."

So we gotta ask ...

Two twenty-four year olds and a twenty-eight year old. Not exactly kids anymore even if they are playing them on a TV show.

Just because kids watch this show doesn't mean it is meant for kids. Most if not all of the actors on the show are 23 and older. These actors are old enough to get married and have kids of their own. Once again, dumb people are confusing someone's character on the show with the actor who portrays the character. This might be a shock for PTC but none of these actors are prepubescent children and none of them attend high school. Lastly, all of the actors have been out of high school for at least 6+ years and out of puberty for 12+ years. So your argument is stupid and doesn't apply.

They are all in their TWENTIES! Trying to criminalize legal, adult behavior is childish.

Glee is not a kids show - it is an adult show. I would never let my tween watch it because it is geared towards 20-somthing - adult aged people even if it's set in a high school. I like the cover and think nothing wrong of it if I were a fan of the who. Besides I don't let my kids watch Glee ... so why would I let them read GQ?!!?

Pedophilia doesn't mean what they think it means. They meant ephebophilia.

Hahaha

what is it with sexually repressed perverts serving on parents group and seeing everything through the lenses of their suppressed tendencies??? it's a simple photo shoot. Yes it is sexy. They're probably masturbating to it right now.

YES, they are adults in the 'real world' but they represent High School Students on the show.

It may not be 'pedophilia' but it is in VERY bad taste. I do not want these images being representative of High School aged girls, I have a daughter and teens these days gace too much pressure to be sexual at a young age, already.

OK - I kind of agree. My 17 yo watches Glee with her friends, and this advertising shows a boy touching a hs girl's backside. It's the kind of behavior I certainly discourage my daughter from exhibiting. I hope she has more respect for herself than to allow herself to be 'pawed' by some stupid boy. But, in reality, I suspect that when she's with her BF, there is a lot more going on (so I am not stupid!). Anyway, it would be terrific for TV to embrace some family values.

If the age of consent in most states is 16, how can this be even CLOSE to bordering on pedophilia?
Someone has too much time on their hands, they should be focusing on real issues. Oh well, I guess they wanted the free press, eh?

To paladine... Why would your kids be exposed to this magazine... It is aimed at ADULT MEN. For once can parents be parents and not rely on CENSORSHIP to raise their kids!!!

This is bull****. They say that the magazine is aimed at ADULT MEN... And all participants of the photos shot are over 18. Where's the story in this? Where's the scandal? Pedophilia??? WTF???

Notice, as well, how the women are sexualized BOOKENDS to the main figure the MALE, who has his hands planted firmly on their butts. I'm a womens' and gender studies major...this is a priceless display.

KB: It's societal. Everything that reinforces the objectification of women affects attitudes and therefore us all.

They're in their 20's so there is no reason to get upset about it.
