Charlie Sheen Hospitalized After Drinking Binge

10/26/2010 10:50 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen was hospitalized early this morning after a drinking binge that ended with Charlie allegedly trashing his NYC hotel room.

New York City police were called by security at The Plaza Hotel, who reported a disturbance in Charlie's suite.  When cops entered just after 2 AM, they found Charlie drunk and naked.  Chairs had been thrown around the room and a chandelier was damaged.

We're told an unidentified woman in the room told cops Charlie flew into such a rage that she locked herself in the bathroom and called security.  There's also a report out that Charlie accused the woman of stealing his wallet.

Police sources say Charlie went voluntarily and that Charlie was "intoxicated, irrational" and "emotionally disturbed." Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Charlie was "emotionally disturbed" and they gave him a choice -- go to the hospital or jail.  Charlie chose option 1.

Sources who have spent time with Charlie recently say he's been "a tortured soul for months" and his friends openly talked about how they feared for his life.  Another source very close to Charlie echoed the fear that Charlie's most recent downturn could end tragically.

Charlie's rep just put out a statement that the actor was hospitalized after suffering an allergic reaction to medication ... though the information conflicts with what TMZ has confirmed ... that drinking was a factor.

"Two and a Half Men" is on hiatus this week and Charlie isn't due back on the set until next Tuesday.  We're told producers have a jet ready in NYC to fly Charlie home today.

Sources connected with the actor tell us he'll fly into L.A. this evening and he'll go right home.  Sheen won't be staying at Promises in Malibu -- where he's stayed on and off since earlier this year.

People connected with the show tell us ... Charlie doesn't think he needs to go back to rehab, even though some of his friends and associates tell us the situation is pretty desperate.

Cops did not find any evidence of drug use in Charlie Sheen's NY hotel room early this morning ... this according to law enforcement sources.

Isn't this low life loser on probation in Colorado????
Shouldn't he be in jail...were he belongs???
This big headed, self absorbed, jerkoff doesn't have the balls to kill himself and do the world a favor!
AND, if he doesn't want his wallet lifted...he shouldn't hang out with whores(his friends)...although, they are on the same level!
I'm tired of the media shoving non news like this down our throats,, instead of REAL news...like What is REALLY going on with the economy and the high rate of unemployment etc!!!

I think he is going through things that we don't know about, yes he may be an alcoholic and he is hurting himself an his kids by his behavior but he needs help, women are just after him for his money. Someone should be there to help him. There are alot of alcoholics out there, some can deal some can't, he is looking for help by doing the things he does, he gets intoxicted to forget and not feel whatever he is wanting to get away from but when he gets sober his problems are still there and maybe even worse. I feel for him.

He can no longer hide what he is, a drunk! A drunk who does not want to do anything about it. Man up and STOP DRINKING! You have and have had everything, looks, family and money, yet you are not happy. Charlie Sheen, you might also want to return to your real Sir name.

A tortured soul by foot. This guy is a piece of human dung he seems to be trying and succeding at living the role he plays on TV but his tv life is way to calm for him his own life is a reality show waiting to happen. CBS pays this bum a ton of cash and wil continue to do so as long as the public keeps watching him. His wives were smart to take the money and get the hell out of his insane orbit.

Would somebody tell me what the hell is so great about Two and a Half Men? It's a crappy show. Once its run is done, it will last in re-runs for a couple years, then disappear with all the other rotten shows that the media says are so great...the proved to be otherwise in re-runs. (Can anybody say "Cosby Show." How about "Golden Girls"?)

I have mixed emotions regarding Charlie. I own several films he has been in, one being Platoon, and I find him to be an excellent actor, maybe better than his father. I can't help but wonder if this could be part of the cause he is experiencing. As to his drinking, I can attest to what he may be going through since I also was once a heavy drinker but as to his drug problem I have always been a clean of them since I am a non smoker and I guess pot is what triggers the habit. Most people think drinking impairs your ability but I beg to argue that since once I was not only a heavy beer drinker but was a fairly competitive long distance runner and completed several marathons at a pace many cannot even run. About 10 years ago I decided not to drink again and did'nt need any support but I know several others that tried but failed. I wish there was some way I could aide Charlie and if I was his father I would devote myself to it. If Martin is reading these posts I urge you to stay on top of him. I believe he is well worth saving and maybe in time he will get it right. He has a lot of youth still ahead of him and as an actor he still may not have reached his peak.

i never watched the tv series until recently. some were funny as long as it didn't deal with subjects i feel should never be put on the air. i don't understand why the parents of angus jones (jake) have allowed him to play on the show since he was very young. i think he learned a lot of bad things at a very young age. but oh well, money is everything. charlie sheen is not a good actor, john cryer is a good actor and basically he and jake are the show. i don't know why they pay charlie all that money. charlie sheen is not acting, he is the way he is in real life. cbs should put their money to better use. they should put charlie sheen in jail for all the mayhem he causes, especially to his daughters who will grow up to be very disturbed girls.

First off..to Libhater, get lost you fool. This board has nothing to do with anything you wrote. Go spread your misguided hatred somewhere where it's wanted because it sure isn't wanted here.
As to Mr. Sheen he is a typial Hollywood story. He's a mess and is ruining his life but as long as his show brings in the ratings the bigwigs will support him. They care about money, not people.
