Keith Olbermann --

Fired By MSNBC

1/22/2011 9:05 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Keith Olbermann was fired by MSNBC sources tell TMZ, and we're told it had everything to do with Comcast's acquisition of NBC.

Keith Olbermann Fired
Sources connected with the network tell us ... Comcast honchos did not like Keith's defiance and the way he played in the sandbox.

Our sources say Keith has around two years left on his contract, and he'll be paid his salary -- around $7 million a year.

We don't know if Comcast will let Keith make a deal with another network as part of an exit agreement, but it's a good bet he'll be benched for a minimum of 6 months, and probably longer.

THANK GOD FOR COMCAST. NOW IF ONLY THEY WOULD DO THE SAME TO EVERYONE ELSE ON MSNBC. AS A DEMOCRAT I MUST SAT THAT EVERYONE ON MSNBC IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO TO ALL THAT BELIEVE IN FAIRNESS BIPARTISANSHIP. UNFORTUNATELY HE'LL POP UP SOME WHERE ELSE. AND HE'LL CONTINUE TO GET THE ABISMALL RATINGS THAT HE IS USE TO. TO THOSE THAT THINK DIFFERENTLY, MAYBE HE WAS LET GO CAUSE HIS SMALL RATINGS DID NOT DESERVE HIS HIGH SALARY. ANY WAY, THAK GOD THAT IGNORANT BLOWHARD IS GONE. FOR NOW.

Great news

There is a God! What political jack*ss. Do I dare hope that Chris and Rachel are next. Maybe Comcast will put some polital balance into MSNBC. Maybe we can finally stop hearing how everything is George Bush's fault.

It wasn't so much the particular slant he took, it was the arrogance with which he presented it. And, so too Rachel, you're next!

I really don't believe that Comcast could be so stupid to fire the man who made the network what it is. How utterly stupid. Keith was the one who told the truth about the world and if you couldn't see that than you were f-ing blind. As for the morons who posted above that are so happy, obviously you watch Hannity or the other asses at faux noise and believe everything that comes out of their a-holes. It's to bad. This country has lost a voice that made a difference. Comcast you suck. I may have to get Direct TV and goo back to Qwest.

This is truly bad news for the average American citizen. At least Keith served as a counterpoint to Fox's vicious right wing propaganda. You will be missed Keith. Mark Montgomery NYC, NY boboberg@nyc.rr.com

I used to work in local TV with Kieth and you could not meet a bigger a- hole. At least once a week we
Were warned don't talk to Kieth he's having a bad day. I'm disappointed he was fired though I think he should have to work for the money.

Too bad MSNBC isn't willing to play by the same rules as FOX: the part about no ethical/moral issues need inhibit their employees on the air or off.

Keith Olbermann's show will be greatly missed by millions, and even MSNBC can't deny that. He spoke his mind, and he had his own brand of humor. His show was a gem in a world of spiraling downhill shows that pretend to tell you news. Everyone could tell it was a commentary show, but he talked about relevant issues. And, he had funny clips and comments to make you smile. Who the hell can do that anymore in one show?

Keith and Rachel were the only reasons to watch MSNBC. I bet Rachel's next.
