Charlie Sheen

Checks into Rehab

1/28/2011 7:54 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen voluntarily checked himself in to an undisclosed rehab facility earlier today ... and his show "Two and a Half Men" has been placed on indefinite "hiatus" while he undergoes treatment.

0111-charlie-sheen-bn-4-credit
"Two and a Half Men" producers released a statement saying, "Due to Charlie Sheen’s decision to enter a rehabilitation center, CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre are placing “Two and a Half Men” on production hiatus."

The statement continues, "We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision."

Sheen's publicist tells us, "He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern."

As TMZ previously reported, Sheen had a briefcase of cocaine delivered to his mansion during a 36-hour bender earlier this week ... and was hospitalized early Thursday morning for a hiatal hernia.

I wonder what Denise Richards said to Charlie. She seems to be the only one to get through to him...

God Bless Charlie and his family in these difficult times. He needs to get straight and fight like hell to get his family back...

Let's face it, Charlie's gonna do what Charlie wants to do. In all honesty he should be in jail on coke charges.

CHARLIE - MANY MANY OF US ARE ROOTING FOR YOU. You have 5 children (2 with Denise, 2 with Brooke and an Older daughter who recently married). They love you. You might even be a Grandfather some day. Stay off the CRAP for Grandkids. PS. Know Jon Cryer is reading TMZ - You are Wonderful - very very talented - make me laugh a lot

Voluntary my butt. I predict he'll come out of rehab and go back to his old lifestyle, he doesn't seem like he wants to change and his bosses and PR people can squawk all day long at him, but until he himself wants to change it will be same old same old. The worst part of this situation is all the cast and crew who have been affected by Charlie's actions, the ones who don't make millions of dollars like he does. I sincerely hope he gets his act together because, sadly, he affects others' livelihoods.

Quotes from Charlie after he got sober in 1999. He is a good actor when he is sober. I hope he can remember the really terrible times clearly and get clean again.

I nearly died, which is about as bad as you can get. I’m totally convinced that drugs and alcohol brought me very close to death two or three times, and it’s more luck than anything else that I’m still alive. My spirit was dying and I believe when your spirit dies, it’s only a matter of time before your body follows.

I remember thinking and feeling and believing that I was not able to stop, that I genuinely was incapable of putting an end to this. It wasn’t even that I didn’t know what to do with myself if I could stop. I didn’t take the thought that far. It was, `My God, I can’t stop. Now what?` Not, `OK, if I stop?` That was a terribly sad reality
.
I was just tired - and sick and tired of being sick and tired, of living like a vampire.

Slash sat me down at his house and said, You’ve got to clean up your act. You know you’ve gone too far when Slash is saying, Look, you’ve got to get into rehab.

There is a fine line between confidence and ****iness. And when you lose sight of what side you’re walking on, that’s when you are in trouble.

In sobriety they teach you to think the drink through. Don’t just think about having the drink and how good it’s going to feel. Think through to the next morning, how it’s going to influence you, the shame, how it’s going to trigger the domino effect. If I do that I end up with, OK, I’m not going to drink. It’s the same thing with one-night stands. I appreciate my time in the mornings so much that I’d rather go to bed at night alone than deal with waking up, creeping around the bedroom, being quiet, worrying. Also, I’d like to be with somebody I care about. Something moderately substantial.

The hardest were those first 30 days sober. Then, three months and six months. But if I compare the amount of time I’ve been sober to the amount of time I’ve partied, well, let’s just say I’ve still got a lot of catching up to do. Staying sober is the most important thing in my life, along with my family and loved ones. The movies, TV, money and all the other crap is just secondary.

The most damage I did was to myself and to the people who got caught in the maelstrom. The worst thing that happened was the overdose. But I didn’t go in with three other dudes who overdosed with me. No, you overdose alone.

TMZ, give us a list of ALL people that Charlie pays somehow or another. Denise, stay away and move on. It seems like you are more interested in competing with Brooke and getting more child support. You are one of Charlie's biggest enablers. People who have received pay from Charlie in the past year are al responsible at some level for the position he is in.

Come on guys, you're just envious that I have everything a man could dream of and still I'm not happy. You don't have anything a man would desire and you aren't happy too. So when and where will we be happy if we can't be happy poor, mediocre or filthy rich? That's right. Because we'll die and nothing/everything will ever be enough to satisfy the urge to ****ing do it all in this ****ing short lifetime we're here. I would party harder if I could, I would do more if I could. But there's limits to the human body. And that limit has been touched.

Good luck Charlie!! YAY - I'd like to think all the prayers and concern from us TMZ visitors helped him make this decision. Stay in rehab, Charlie!! Rehab is good, it's where you belong. I'm sure Two and a Half Men will still have great viewership with the reruns.

I would like to place $50 on Charlie for the celebrity death pool. This is one of those no-brainer bets.

I'm very happy to see this news! We can't stop looking at a train wreck but it doesn't mean we want to see it. What a relief. Let's hope he's in there for a while and really gets(and wants) the help he needs.
