'Golden Voice' -- Famous Cardboard Sign for Sale

2/4/2011 9:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

"Golden-voiced" homeless man Ted Williams is using his most famous panhandling sign to ask for money one last time ... by selling it in an online auction.

TMZ has learned, Williams is planning to auction off the original cardboard sign seen in the YouTube video that launched him to superstardom. His camouflage jacket will hit the auction block as well.

Williams' rep tells TMZ, all proceeds from the auction will go to the “Ted Williams Second Chance Foundation” which, we’re told, was created to help talented people who need “a hand up and not a hand out.”

So far, no word on when the items will hit the auction block.

Good question! So, will the jacket be washed or will the stench of homelessness linger????

Special word of "THANKS" to #28. Mickey "Why so bitter", and #33. ISLAND DON "Just leave the dude alone", 'compassion' and 'mercy' for those who need it the most, just not on these boards I guess. And you wonder why our society (and part of America?) is going down the toilet?

I do not know why this is really being done, but if there's even one iota of 'truth' in anything that Ted says about this 'foundation' (if he's serious and can get someone to come aboard with knowledge about setting up and running a foundation, and he's serious and isn't running a game on the public, it might work), and he's willing to help those like himself then who am I to say such nasty things? NOT trying to be sanctimonius, just putting myself in people like Ted's (and others) place.

It's very easy to sit behind a computer, type whatever you choose and tear down others (even Ted admitted he 'needs help', which it's up to him to get, and accept the consequences of his actions when he doesn't), but this is sad folks. Would you say these pitiful and nasty things if it was someone from your family, or even a close friend that you wanted to help? If Ted's lying the truth 'Will' come out and the foundation will fail on it's own, NO ONE HAS TO GIVE A DIME TO ANYTHING THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN OR TRUST, and that includes what Ted's proposing.

Lastly, Harvey Levin and staff, believe it or not there are plenty of extremely talented people, some who just happen to be homeless, who could very well give these 'reality' shows a run for their money, and we've seen quite a few here in New York alone.
