'Airplane!' Actor

Shirley He's Getting Divorced

4/2/2011 6:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

David Leisure -- best known as First Krishna from "Airplane!" and famous commercial character Joe Isuzu -- has filed for divorce from his wife Patricia ... TMZ has learned.

0328-divorce_david_leisure_patricia_getty
Leisure -- who also starred in the 80s sitcom "Empty Nest" -- cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

In the court docs, Leisure asks that his ex be denied spousal support.

The couple married in 1997 and separated in 2004. They have no children together.

*** Separated in 2004 and getting a divorce seven years later? There is common law marriage after seven years, so isn't seven years apart something like common law divorce? Geez! Think she'll get to keep the Isuzu Rodeo? ***

Personally I don't think anyone should pay spousal support. The days are gone when women couldn't find jobs and were expected to stay home and have babies, let the laws reflect the times. While we're at it, lose the child support, bet a lot more women would think twice about using birth control. Decent guys will step up and gladly contribute to the financial security of their kids and if he is not decent, don't have kids with him. The 50's are over, women have choices now.

#13 is correct. Leisure is much better known as Joe Isuzu than that little cameo he had in Airplane. And I'm lying.

Leisure was also on the early 90's sitcom Empty Nest, which I used to watch. More recently he played a rep of an anonymous insurance company in a series of ads for the Maine-based settlement lawyer Joe Bornstein. We in Maine are constantly bombarded with his commercials and have been for the last ten years or so. Usually it's Robert Vaughn (the bad guy from Superman III) who does the ads, and for a long time I thought that he WAS Bornstein! But then finally in on ad he said "I'm Robert Vaughn", and at the bottom of the screen it states he is a paid spokesman. I do still like the ads that Leisure did for Bornstein, as he was perfect as a slimy insurance company mouthpiece who relents and pays for the medical bills and various expenses the client suffers in an accident, but ONLY after he learns that the client is represented by the law offices of Joe Bornstein!

And BTW, I never actually saw any of the Joe Isuzi ads he did!
