Charlie Sheen Cheats Smoking Law in Toronto

4/14/2011 9:45 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen just found a way to skirt Toronto's strict anti-smoking laws during his show there -- lighting up an electronic cigarette.

Shortly after Charlie hit the stage in Toronto's Massey Hall ... our spies say he bragged about not having an ashtray and said he didn't need any cigs. However, a few minutes later he sparked up one of those electronic cigarettes.

Massey Hall management told TMZ they might shut down the show if Charlie lit up on stage because they could face up to $100,000 in fines from the city.

Charlie's been smoking almost non-stop during every other stop on the tour.

We're told he did light up some real tobacco though ... in front of fans who gathered outside the theater right before the show.

By the way, so far so good ... the crowd inside is loving Sheen's act.

UPDATE 6:07PM PDT: Charlie just thumbed his nose at that letter from WB ... telling the crowd, "Negotiations with 'Two and a Half Men' are moving forward. We need to get in a room and fix this thing ... give the people what they want."

Stay tuned ...

E-cigarettes are not "sparked up" or lit on fire, so they do not produce first or secondhand smoke and therefore do not violate smoking restrictions. It is not "cheating" to use a smoke-free alternative tobacco product in places where smoking is prohibited any more than it would be to use a battery powered flashlight where torches are prohibited.

Agreed. TMZ's misleading attempts to add drama to stories is annoying.

To all those that say he has my money. No....last I checked he has the money of every "yes man" follower that will ride this train to the end. Not a train I would ride if the conductor was as messed up and whacked out as this. There was a time that I was a true fan....in the last season of 2 1/2 men I was frightened by the way he was physically changing (not in a good way). Now that systematically the best contract of a television actor has had has went to a ranting cross country dog and pony show is just sad. Please stop the haters line, it's old and just another distraction from what truly is....a sad chapter playing out in this mans life.

‘Piers Morgan Tonight’ show will interview Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher who have a Facebook page to oppose and legally stop sex trafficking in America, their organization is ‘The DNA Foundation’.

Over 300,000 minor girls are estimated to enter the United States illegally from the age of 13 years and older. Kutcher is running a anti-prostitution campaign called,

“Real Men Don’t Buy Girls”

seems to be well timed as we await the BC Supreme Court ruling from Chief Justice Robert Bauman.

Now there is a saying Charlie will never put on a t-shirt.....well, maybe he would seeing as he's such a back peddling hypocrite.

I love it! Hope Demi & Ashton do a fundraiser putting that slogan on t- shirts, etc. I'd buy one - will visit their Facebook page and see if they are selling t-shirts.

Chaps, you live in British Columbia? Are there many Chuckleheads there? I've been seriously thinking for some time of moving to Canada - and this current go round makes me even more depressed about the mentality of the US.

So, what's this ruling your talking about?

From the show: "Sheen said he doesn't trust the mainstream media, including Howard Stern."

****************************

Good for him. They have done nothing but twist his words, and paint biased and often unprofessional opinions about him after the interviews.
He is right going to these local radio stations who appreciate him.

8:33 - "They just make **** up. The media." (Damn, Charlie's onto us!)

****************************************************

Well, even the non-mainstream media has been pretty vicious where Chuckie is concerned, so I get this feeling he might be overlooking something... um... like the fact that maybe they aren't making it all up? Like, maybe these things really are being said about his show - even by now-former fans?

Oh, I forgot. If you don't buy the lines that Charlie feeds you, you weren't a REAL fan in the first place. I'm sure there's quite a few folks out there that would beg to disagree, but don't find it worth their time anymore.

If you choose to dismiss Charlie, after what media feeds you, instead ofn giving him the benefit of the doubt after listening to HIM, then you sure as hell have never been his true fan.
You are just easily-influenced-by-media person.

YOu should see a huge massive amount tonight, Its on the News here in Toronto that he wants everyone to meet him at the Ritz Carlton where he is staying and follow him in a march to some other place in downtown T.O. There are alot of Haters, But then why so many followers, Alot of Toronto peeps were so dissapointed that they did not advertise that Russell Peters was opening the Show, That right there makes it worth every penny.

One of problem with "buying" what Charlie says is that he keeps changing his stories. I would imagine some ex-fans simply got tired of trying to keep up.

'All My Children,' 'One Life to Live' -- CANCELLED
4/14/2011 11:38 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

It's official -- the soap opera era is officially DEAD ... now that ABC has announced they have cancelled "All My Children" and "One Life to Live."

"All My Children" has been on the air since 1970 ... and "One Life to Live" debuted in 1968.

The only soap remaining on ABC is "General Hospital."

ABC released a statement saying, "Guided by extensive research into what today’s daytime viewers want and the changing viewing patterns of the audience, ABC is evolving the face of daytime television with the launch of two new shows."

The replacement shows will focus on health and food.

Shevonne -- our resident soap opera junkie -- is literally crying in the back of our office right now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
To any one who still thinks that established programming like "Men" doesn't just get cancelled, take a look at the story above. Hasn't even been on the site for 3 hours and there are almost 600 comments already.
Nancy 22 hours ago - I find it interesting that those most staunchly defending Chuckie are not commenting on the legalities in the termination letter. Nor is there any effective rebuttal to the allegations in said letter - only vague claims that Charlie got "screwed over" by WB and Lorre.
****************************************************************
Nancy, they can't comment because they are REAL fans and obviously it is very important to remain a real fan so you can have yet another excuse for supporting Charlie plus it gives them a sense of superiority to tell other people that they are not real fans. I've said it before, the real fans gloss over any real substantial points but the rest of us with REAL morals and common sense hold our bar much higher for the people we idolize.
So true! I've noticed that the REAL fans have a very hard time taking any of the points of that "lawsuit" and making them sound even remotely coherent. Just as they cannot take any of the points in the termination letter and refute them. Then again, it's pretty hard to refute what's in the termination letter, especially given the 10 or 11 pages of links to everything said in it.
