Dodger Stadium Beating Suspect: I Have an Alibi

5/24/2011 4:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The man arrested for the brutal beating of a San Francisco Giants' fan outside Dodger Stadium claims he's innocent and has an alibi to prove it ... TMZ has learned.

0524_giovanni_ramirez_EX_TMZ

Giovanni Ramirez was arrested Sunday for allegedly beating Giants' fan Bryan Stow so badly on opening day, he suffered brain damage.

Ramirez' lawyer, Chip Matthews, tells TMZ ... he has three witnesses who will testify that Ramirez was not even at the game that day but rather at his L.A. apartment.

Ramirez -- a gang member with felony convictions -- was busted after his parole officer met with him and noticed a strong resemblance to the sketches of the suspect.

Ya know, they better have more (and better) evidence than just "a strong resemblance to the sketches of the suspect" before they foul up this guy's life forever. Don't get me wrong, I hope they have their man, but to be wrongfully accused and imprisoned is just about as bad as what happened to Mr. Stow.

If this goes to court, and the jury pool has no hispanic/latino jurors this will turn out to be nothing more than a political case to clean up LAPD's pathetic reputation. They put all their resources to "celebrity" cases and forget about all the suffering mothers, father and children of murder victims who have been forgotten and been put at the back of the line because LAPD has better places to put 20 full time detectives... on one assault case. Really makes LAPD look more bad, since one of them leaked the photo of the suspects name and mug shot. Chief Beck needs to be fired, and the FBI should look into this. Seems like a cheesy false arrest made to clean LA's image, and not actual arrest criminals and murderers.

Rumor is LAPD busted a gang member who "closely" resembles the suspect to close this media case. No other cases use 20 detectives working 6,000 hours using all available resources. Seems the got the wrong guy, and the witnesses "think" it's him. Bet the detectives pointed him out to the witnesses to convince them it's him. This guy has had so much bad publicity... only logical thing do to is toss the case. Chief Beck already labeled the "SUSPECT" quote on quote "A THUG RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BEATING" thus he's already placing the guilty conviction. LAPD ruined this case, easy to see this guy is going home.

I saw his supposed "alibi" on the news last night. She was a fat Mexican chick piling into a beat up minivan, she very angrily told the reporter something like "He was at my apartment, me and my friend went to the opening day game for a while then came back and he was still there with my daughter" giving no eye contact the whole time. So his female friend was at opening day and he wasn't. Riiiiight.

Oh yeah, geez, who's his alibi? His mother or his girlfriend. Yeah, right. I knew that'd be his "alibi."

Death penalty to whomever was proven (by DNA) to do this.

Its funny how the slight racism that some White males are now feeling pales in comparison to racism felt by everyone else. Its just that now, they know how it feels. Racism by any party is bad behavior that must be stopped ,not just the eradication of "reverse racism" at the expense of good ol fashioned racism.

Gee, let me guess: the other three witnesses are also lowlife gangbangers. What a POS. They would be doing the world a favor by locking his ass up.

@ Sonja although witness testimony can be flawed it goes a lot futher when the witnesses described his tattoos immediately after the beating. To which: his parole officer noticed that he had recently tattooed over his existing tattoo to cover it up. Therefore, tattoo identification goes a long way.

Plus, this guys mommy says he is a nice guy who doesn't even like baseball. Mommmy said he stays home a lot because he is on parole. Well, Mommy WHY the heck is your rat b*stard son on parole?
