Rihanna -- I'm a Rockstar, NOT A PARENT!!!

6/2/2011 10:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Rihanna is lashing back at the people criticizing her violent new music video for "Man Down" -- scoffing at the notion she's a role model ... saying, "What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent?"

RiRi went to her Twitter page today after the Parents Television Council condemned the "Man Down" video for depicting a premeditated murder and implying killing someone is an acceptable form of revenge.

Rihanna tweeted, "I'm a 23 year old rockstar with NO KIDS! What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent? I'm just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!"

She continued, "We have the freedom to make art, LET US! Its your job to make sure they dont turn out like US."

"U can't hide your kids from society, or they'll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD."

Hopefully you will never be a parent or end up on the front end of a gun barrel but, that might be what it takes to make you face reality. Rockstar, artist, what ever you want to call it, freedom to create doesn't mean promoting illegal actions. You are definately one of a kind and for the sake of us all, the first and last. This style needs to die quickly. You should definately know you are being observed by people who can make things happen in the time it takes to pull a trigger. Is this what you wanted to do when you were a victum of domestic violence ? Get counseling immediately..

Rock Star? Ok. She should have thought about this before catering to all of the young teeny boppers who made her a millionaire. Now she wants to be legit? Too late. I hope she pisses off all of the parents of her little fans and fades into has been obscurity. At least she's consistent. It's ok to kill someone and get your ass kicked by your punk ass boyfriend. Way to go girl !!

I agree with lili..I also understand what others are saying, as a victim of sexual abuser as a child from her own father, you would sometimes think of your abuser being hurt/killed, but you don't do it, you will also cause pain on others indirectly maybe,. Knowing the age group of her audience it is not the right message,. You have bullying going on in schools, so, would it be O.k for that child to kill their abuser? things don't always work out the way we plan, not everyone one will be able to cry self defense and be believed. They cause more pain and grief in their lives and the lives of their loved ones when they take the law in their own hands, they will then be fighting the law themselves..Different take, Maybe show the victim having the strength to come forward and report this stuff, the thoughts of wanting the abuser hurt, but overcoming as woman/man,not making it destroy you..

1. You're not a girl. You're a grown azz woman, act like it.
2. Take responsibility for your "art" you put it on display for millions, there will be criticism
3. And just a small, worthless piece of advice... No one like to hear a damn millionaire complain. Take your lumps and keep it moving.

A few years ago there was this same sort of manufactured controversy when the Dixie Chicks released the song and video for Goodbye Earl. Madonna had the same type of controversy for the What It Feels Like For A Girl video. Rihanna isn't doing anything that hasn't been done before.

And she's totally right. If a parent has a problem with what she's saying, then it's up to the parent to educate that child. Rihanna is an entertainer. Nothing more, nothing less...

Celebrities need to realize that they're role models whether they want to take on the role or not. Children look up them, and while they can't parent all the kids in the world, they can at least set a good example. Celebrities ARE role models... most of them just aren't GOOD ones.

Name:

To be a rock star you have to be in a rock band, have discernible musical talent, and be well known for it. She has none of those things. Shes just a pathetic wannabe. Heck, shes even wants to be white!

So according to Rihanna's logic when Osama Bin Laden filmed those disgusting videos where he was killing people it was art? Just because it is on film does not mean it is harmless.

asap!

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..We are all humans she has a free will as do we all. Movie depick guns
killings and rape; is a video any different? I know it shouldn't be shown to kids but scarry movies is about killing so what's the difference..common sense don't watch it if you don't understand it. Again let the parents control and teach their children and not expect the entertainers to do it or movie makers.

She may be a Rockstar, as she declares, which is exactly why she should be MORE careful about what she says and does. Because Unfortunately, she is also a role model for millions of young people.
I wish she would just go away.
