Ryan Dunn -- Beer and Shots Before Crash

6/20/2011 10:50 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn spent four hours in a Philadelphia-area bar before he got behind the wheel of his Porsche 911 this morning ... drinking at least 3 beers and 3 shots ... TMZ has learned.

Ryan Dunn

Dunn arrived to a bar called Barnaby's of America in West Chester, PA around 10:30 PM ... to hang out with a small group of male friends.

One of the friends tells TMZ ... Dunn had 3 Miller Lites and 3 "girly shots" between 10:30 PM and 2:10 AM -- nearly a 4 hour span -- but he was "not too drunk to drive."

But according to another person who was inside the bar that night, Dunn was "wasted" -- and "had a lot to drink."

As TMZ previously reported, Dunn crashed his Porsche soon after -- killing himself and an unidentified passenger.  Cops believe speed may have been a factor.

No offense every one, but if the reports are correct and he was driving in access of 130 mph, it doesn't matter if he was drunk, high, sober or sleeping behind the wheel.
At that speed nobody would survive regardless of what physicla/mental shape they would be in.
RIP Ryan, you're still our hero!

This is very sad for a number of reasons.
1. Obviously, two people are dead. The fact that some posters are celebrating the death of someone without knowing the full story is despicable. The toxicology reports won't be available for 4-6 weeks, and until then he deserves the benefit of the doubt as far as the drunk driving accusations are concerned. In the meantime, the evidence to this point suggests that he had consumed at least 4 beverages in 4 hours, possibly more depending on who's account you believe. So even if it turns out that he wasn't over the legal limit, he was definitely impaired to some degree. Just because a person isn't over the legal limit doesn't mean that the alcohol isn't affecting their mental and physical capabilities. And driving 130 mph on a curvy road at night is stupid even if you're sober. I don't think anyone can defend his actions, but you know what they say about glass houses.

2. It's especially sad to see the vitriol and ignorance displayed on this message board. The biggest downside of the freedom of the internet is that you have to deal with the all the trolls and half-wits. I could make a second job from correcting typos and incorrect statements from the retards who post on this site.

3. It's okay to be mad and sad. I've had two friends die from seperate alcohol related incidents. One fatality was the driver, and in the other incident a passenger died. Both events were totally preventable and stupid. And I don't use the word "accident" because drunk driving is not an accident. But it is always a tragedy. And it should make you furious, because it so easily prevented. But show some compassion. Karma's a bit..

4. One other thing- to the people admonishing the trolls for their poor taste and dumb jokes for the sake of the victims' friends and families- Trust me, the last thing the families are doing right now is reading the wack-azz comment section of the TMZ website. Your heart is in the right place, but the best thing to do with ignorant haters is just ignore them. They're only saying that crap to get a rise out of those who have some common sense. Don't give them the satisfaction.

RIP Dunn-sorry it ended like this.

I'm sorry for his loss but ppl are trying to sugar coat things saying he wasn't that drunk. He should have been responsible enough not to put his life and anyone else life in danger. And ppl are mad what Ebert said. I think ppl should not say speed played a part in the crash, ALCOHOL AND SPEED COST TWO PPL THEIR LIFE IN THIS ACCIDENT.

3 shots, 3 beers on his credit card bill. doesn't account for drinks bought for him by patrons and/or management. crash site, how far away from bar? after hours drinking? people need to come forward, the employees won't, petrified they'll lose their jobs.
