Rome from 'Sublime' -- AMAZING Winehouse Tribute

7/25/2011 8:50 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Sublime's new frontman Rome was so moved when he heard about Amy Winehouse's passing ... he hit the recording studio and busted out a version of "Rehab" in her honor ... and it's AMAZING.

Rome included this message with the video, "I recorded this tribute for Amy Winehouse after I heard the news of her passing. she is a huge inspiration to my music. We miss you Amy."

wow way to try to benefit from the tragic death of a talented yet misguided woman. Its not about you its about the tragic loss of life and the pain and suffereing felt by those left behind... Nobody knew about this clown, including ms winehouse herself im sure, before and "tribute" or not if he's going to try to make a profit or a name for himself then he deserves to rot in hell.

I think it was wonderful. Listen to the words he changed. The apple in your daddies eye. How addiction like this is filled with so much pain and not just a fun thing. *applauds* And i think it is perfectly appropriate as it was one of her biggest hits, and it is empathizing with the pain and the fight she went through and lost to. YES, she may have lost her life physically to drugs, but an addiction isn`t just a painless thing. Her death was not a quick thing, it was a long drawn out process and took many years to get her to the point where she was. And everyone just sat there and watched...cashed in on stories about it

I think the hateful comments in this post prove that society is filled with human beings who are not able to love unconditionally. And why would anyone hurt someone else for singing one of Amy's songs? And perhaps the irony of the cause of her death and this song is exactly why he chose to sing Rehab ... that and it was the song she was most known for in mainstream America? I'm sad and sickened by the nature of all of these comments. Your mothers and fathers would be so ashamed.

When you judge another's intentions, you reveal your own.

Beautiful take on a song by a beautiful soul now gone from us.

Ok. First, this was truly a great rendition, the guy has a terrific voice and did the song justice. Second, it is a creepy rendition in that they put this out before she was even in the grave.

That was awesome! WOW, great version and tribute! No matter how she died or the "real" reason why, the point is a person has passed and everyone should show respect. If not for her, for her family & friends. Everyone's journey & how they leave this world is different (that's what separates all of us). We should not judge, that is God's job. Just take it as a leasson and if you don't like her then don't beome a person like "her". She had a great voice ~RIP Amy

Ha, it's a tribute to Amy, not about money & having your name in the headlines, eh? Bad liar! I didn't even know Sublime a few seconds ago, now I know they're just disgusting. I couldn't stand Amy "Gimme drugs" Winehouse, but she surely doesn't deserve this.
