"Two and a Half Men"

'Charlie' is Dead

and NEVER Coming Back

8/6/2011 9:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The season premiere of "Two and a Half Men" will leave NO DOUBT -- Charlie Sheen's character is dead and gone ... for good.

TMZ has spoken with sources on set for last night's taping of the premiere. Now, we don't want to be douche bags and give it all away -- so we'll just say that in one brilliantly written scene, the producers make sure there's absolutely no way for 'Charlie Harper' to return to the show in the future.

Although ... he definitely leaves his mark on the episode.

As for Ashton Kutcher's debut -- we're told he and Jon Cryer had good chemistry ... and he went out of his way to interact with the audience.  At one point Ashton even snuck into the crowd and surprised a woman with a back rub.

At least one audience member said Ashton seemed dry and didn't quite own the character. Can't please 'em all.

Oh, and our spies didn't spot Demi Moore or Chuck Lorre -- but it's a good bet Chuck was there to finally say sayonara to Charlie Sheen Charlie Harper.

Chuck Lorre killed off a beloved character all because he was upset with the actor who played that character. That is not a good reason for doing such. I doubt that the show will last half a season. As for the "Premiere" episode, it's up against the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. My money is on the Roast decimating the "Premiere" by 3:1 in the ratings. I personally will watch the syndicated replays, but won'*****ch the new one with Ashton.

One of the things in this photo is not like the others. One of those things does not belong.

Anyone who says that Kutcher can't act should watch "The Guardian" and "The Butterfly Effect". Most of his other movies were romantic comedies so comedy is something he is used to. Always thought he was pretty funny in his movies.

Geez TMZ tell us something we don't already know. My five year old could have told you they were going to kill him off. Great investigative reporting.

Everybody's got an opinion. I'll pass judgement once I've seen the show. Geeezzz, isn't anything better than the crap reality shows. What happened to good sitcoms? Frazier, Cheers, Friends- MONEY, that's what. The 15 minutes of famers don't require millions for an appearance.

The first ep gets the highest ratings ever; then, a nosedive into mid-season cancellation.

Look at crunchy Kutcher grabbing the glory already. He looks so sloppy dirty and totally unconvincing as an internet geek.

You can always tell who the star of a show is by taking them out of the equation. Out of all of them, Warlock is the only one who could carry his own show, even in spite of his drug problems.

It looks like all of the cast members have lost weight and will probably look beleaguered on the show.

AgentBlonde: Are you the one leaking the plot lines to TMZ? If so I applaud you. Funny pic!

Gonna watch the first two episodes then never watch this show again... Charlie Sheen was the reason people watched this show, because he can deliver lines with dry humor....yeah me might not be the nicest guy in the world but he fits a lot better than Ashton...

No matter what Chuck Lorre says or TMZ writes, the Charlie Harper death has been done in a way to bring him back if Kutcher is a fail. Rose and Charlie have to fake his death in order for Charlie to avoid being killed by gambling debt collectors, and the Kutcher character is involved in the gambling debt side of things. Chuck Lorre hates the fact that there is an "out" for Charlie Harper to come back.
