Christina Aguilera

MJ Tribute Concert

8/11/2011 9:19 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera has finally agreed to perform at the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert in Wales in October ... promoters have announced.

Xtina will be joined by Cee Lo, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis, Craig David, UK boy band JLS, and Alien Ant Farm -- known for their 2001 cover of MJ's "Smooth Criminal."

Members of the Jackson family will also be performing at the October 8th concert in Cardiff -- including several of his brothers -- but we're guessing that list doesn't include Jermaine or Randy.

According to an executive for Global Live Events, this is just the tip of the iceberg -- "This announcement is just the beginning, we have many more to announce."

Jury selection beings on September 8 for Dr. Conrad Murray, who is going to stand trial for involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, who passed away on June 25, 2009.

Alright the first half of your comment, I agree 100%. I sit here scratching my head going "uh, wth?" But I have learned to stop trying to understand the Jackson family, Wales?? Who knows, October??? Again it seems so completely random. But I like the performers they have, mostly. They are decent performers, definitely not at the same level Michael was on, but enjoyable all he same. And another good point, the performers, why is the family choosing performers that Michael didn't know or anything? Also why are they attempting this tribute concert during the trial. And speaking of the trial, when the hell is that trial going to actually start, is waiting for two and half years after someone is murdered to hold a trial, considered normal? Ugh, nothing makes sense, nothing at all makes sense. I am done, soo many questions, zero answers. Thanks Jackson family, for leaving us dazed and confused, what the hell? Is this even real anymore? It all seems like an elaborate soap opera, I half-expect Michael to return from the dead, saying that he hadn't actually been dead at all. Seems par for a soap opera right? Holding elaborate, public memorials, and not burying him until months after he died, and then smiling and furthering their own career agendas. It all seems like a disjointed, confusing, and weird show to me, but I suppose Michael's whole life was like that, well the way it was portrayed to the public at least... Ah well man, I am done with the Jackson family news for a while, none of it makes sense. I will check back in, if I ever hear something come from their mouths that is cohesive and not contradictory.

Me too. I sit here scratching my head going "uh, wth?" Because a lot of legitimate questions do arise regarding to where and why now, out of a move like this. And it does seemed to have happened randomly out of nowhere. Michael was an A-list performer, which none of these are except for Beyonce, who is performing by satellite. Bottom line, it all seems to be about a dollar moreso than a tribute. So far, the people that are performing were not Michael's friends. They never once supported him, or spoke out in his favor when he was alive. So why should they be considered as paying tribute to him, as opposed to getting paid financially and publically. Period. Jaimee Foxx, was on In Living Color when they did skits mimicing Michael Jackson. Maybe they thought that they wouldn't have sold a lot of tickets in the U.S. And as for the timing f the event, who knows? Because they sure don't tell us. But all-in-all, if it's okay with their conscious, more power to'em.
