Jani Lane 911 Call

Nobody Wants to Touch the Body

8/24/2011 10:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0823_jani_lane_EX_911
When Jani Lane's body was discovered at an L.A. hotel earlier this month, no one at the scene wanted to go near him... even to check if he was still alive -- this according to the 911 call obtained by TMZ.

According to the caller -- a lady at the front desk -- housekeepers discovered the body ... but no one would touch it to check for a pulse.

The dispatcher replies, "It would be nice to know if we can help him" -- but the hotel staff at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, CA still refused.

As we previously reported, investigators found a half-empty bottle of vodka and prescription pills on the scene. Toxicology results are expected shortly. Calls to the hotel haven't been returned.

The 911 call sound sort-of-like a something out of a black comedy film.

He never mentioned that it may have been the air rushing between his big ears and head that caused the earthquake!

I don't blame them. Dead bodies are scary. Just because he chose to **** up doesn't mean they have to traumatize themselves even more. At least they called 911.. and "would be nice to know if we can help him" , well then get your ambulance there in 10 mins or less.

You people (TMZ) are such c*nts.

Instead of sensationalizing his death, why not do something constructive like post your 10 favourite Jani Lane songs?

...my guess is that you couldn't name more than 2

She's a housekeeper, not a paramedic. She believed he was dead and he was, give the lady a break. I'm sure public perception of her actions would not have made her any more inclined to touch a dead body.

I wouldnt want to touch him either......Thats what EMT's are for......They did nothing wrong...most people wouldnt touch a druggies body after death....they look almost diseased! do drugs and then die like this! I always show my kids articles like this....shajkes em up and shows them what drugs can do to you! No pity here...died the way he lived!

Move on....

Looking for a great place to live, away from the noise of town and neighbnors, but still close enough for an easy drive in? Nice quiet cabin for one ($275) or two ($325) if you can handle the close quarters. Small, one room with sink and woodstove for cooking and heating. Good with building? Would like to add a deck to this and will consider some rent trade for this, for the right person. Farm location, spring/branch, and babbling stream out front. Right off main road so NO 4wd needed for winter. NON SMOKING PROPERTY, serious inquiries only. If you are an ASU student, please reply from your appstate email address.

Move on....

Let's look at this from a positive angle, Jani was a human like us all, with exceptional talent - and some baggage that eventually caught up with him - as each of us have that are reading this.

He went out looking into heaven and singing with the angels, as he should be!

As for the Comfort Inn having employees/housekeeping with no CPR training and no defib on site - lawsuit anyone? This hotel chain should know better, also are these folks legals?

This is just horrific. Seriously, no one wanted to touch him? No one wanted to check for a pulse or see if they could help him? Not even just to go into the room & take a closer look... where was the sense of urgency on her part, even if he had already passed away you'd think she would sound more concerned than acting like she was casually ordering a pizza.... What is WRONG with people today?

he could have had a pulse, he could have survived so sad.

plus, when he asked if they has an AED, isn't it the law that all hotels, airports, and conference centers have an AED on premises and at least one person on staff at every shift that knows how to use one??

This just keeps getting sadder and sadder :-( So many unanswered questions. I just keep thinking of his daughters and the pain he lived with keeping him from staying clean. Addiction is a DISEASE thats doesn't discriminate, it could have been anyone. Jani Lane was someone's son, a brother, a father and friend but above all a human being with frailties like anyone of us. The way he died is just heart breaking, NO ONE should have to die like that....NO ONE. R.I.P. Jani Lane Gone but never forgotten

It's a sad day. That 911 call is very sad. What is wrong with people, they couldn't even help the 911 dispatcher by seeing if Jani was breathing or not. Idiots

It's not their responsibility to touch him. He had been dead for at least a day, when the police arrived, so what difference does it make? He was already dead when they found him. I don't know if anyone has ever seen a body after someone has been dead for a day, but it's not a pretty sight. When someone has been dead for that long, it's quite obvious that they are dead, so there's not really any need to check for a pulse. I know I definitely wouldn't have checked him. I am SO sick of people making such a big deal over his death and all the conspiracy theories surrounding it. He was an addict and was really unhealthy, death is usually the outcome, when you combine those two things.
