Marty McFly Shoes

1st Pair Sells for $37,500

9/9/2011 8:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0909_btf_shoe_video_tmzGREAT SCOTT!!!!!!!

The very first pair of the Nike Air Mag -- the Marty McFly shoe from "Back to the Future II" was auctioned off in L.A. last night ... and the winning bidder dropped $37,500!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The auction -- co-hosted by Joel McHale -- went down at the Montalban Theater ... and after an INTENSE stand-off between two shoe-a-holics ... the winner was eventually crowned.

Along with the shoes, the winner also received a "plutonium case" where he can store his "McFly's"

Oh, and McHale also promised to throw in a puppy ... we'll find out if he REALLY meant it.

So far, the identity of the buyer remains a secret ... we're guessing it won't be for long.

FYI -- all of the proceeds from the auction benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Hate to be a pessimist. Hasn't it occurred to anyone that this is a publicity ploy by Nike to get good press?? While it goes to a good cause; Parkinson's research i can't help be skeptical of nikes "altruistic" motives. Making a few pairs doesn't cause them much and saying they will donate it to research buys them free press. As we are supposed to turn a blind eye to their history of worker rights violations. Seems pretty transparent attempt to me to whitewash history.

$37,500 for the BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB would have been a positive.

Daaaaaaam. Guess I have NO place at this auction. Marty McFly shoes/car...Futuristic Nike's/convertible..lit up soles/kid's tuition. Hey, you gotta pay to play, much envy to dude who picked those up. Bet'chu the last one's auctioned won't go for THAT much though.

C'mon, Nike! Make 'em an ongoing model, Sell 'em for $100 a pair, and donate some of that to an ongoing donation to the MJFox Parkinson's Research Charity! My daughter is a HUGE MJF/BTTF fan, I'd buy her a pair of these in a heartbeat.

Allow me to play devil's advocate, if I might...

Yeah $37,500 is an idiotic amount of money to spend on shoes, but as a person who believes in freedom, a person should be able to spend their money on anything they want to, as long as it's legal and it doesn't hurt anyone.

Secondly, the line about the money going to Parkinson's was separate from the rest of the article but I'm suuuuuure that wasn't TMZ's way of trying to stir the pot of the usually mild activity of the comments...

@JustaGuy - Thanks for showing your ignorance! $37K for shoes is as much a joke as the Armenian Whorehouse wedding. Too bad your suffering from oxygen deprevation due to rectal cranial inversion. Hows that working for ya?

That's awesome! If they sell em all around there they will raise over $5m for MJ Fox's foundation.
