Dolores Hope

Dead at 102

9/19/2011 4:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Dolores Hope -- Bob Hope's widow -- has died.  She was 102 years old.

Dolores married Bob Hope in 1934 and the couple was married for 69 years, until Bob died in 2003. Sources tell us Dolores died this morning.

Friends of Dolores tell TMZ, she was quite the character, frequently drinking bourbon and entertaining almost to the end of her life.

Dolores was a devout Catholic, who drove herself to mass everyday at 7 AM, and when she could no longer drive a chapel was constructed on her Toluca Lake estate so she could worship.

Dolores' rep, Harlan Boll, tells TMZ, she loved children and veterans and would do anything for her charities.

There's a problem here

So he had affairs. So what? That lady was used to sharing him, and she did so graciously. She shared him with soliders far from home every single holiday season from World War II and kept going for over 50 years, and he was in some pretty dicey war situations while entertaining troops but he never quit until he could no longer do it. He was such a true patriot and so giving of himself for the military that congress made him an honorary serviceman. Yeah, and it was ALL THAT. His wife had his back and did her share on the homefront. Applause to a good wife and a fine lady. RIP

See, people with a little money live longer! Brooke Astor, Rose Kennedy... When is America going to WAKE UP and create a national health care system that takes care of ALL Americans, whether they are rich or poor, and whether or not they have a JOB! That's why I voted for Obama, but he has wussed out of the health care fight, and submitted to the insurance companies. Shame on you BO!!

They were Catholic.!
What makes any of you think there could be even the most remote possibility that either one of them could be in Heaven?

Your husband filled many lonely teen-age hours with laughter. Thank you for letting him have those hours. Thanks for all the USO times for our troops during WWII and for his trips to far-away lands where our hearts were heavy until he made us laugh with hope that a better life could be actually reached. Thank you, Dolores, for giving him that freedom to reach us, to give us hope, and for welcoming him home to your loving arms. He would not have been held half the man he was if not for you. Thank you.

Lucille Ball asked her.. Why did you marry Bob?
Delores said,"OH!I love to laugh." before Lucy could say anything witty.. Bob broke in and said very strenuously.. "I take that as a compliment!"

First, she was a great lady. Second, he was a super great man. He gave to everyone when it was not nessecery. He made us laugh and cry. She stood behind him. Anyone that can remember those great times and his wonderful ability, are proud. Behind every man is a great woman, she was his woman.

I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Hope when I worked for Mr. Carson 1977-1981. As the Asst. to the Head Talent Coordinator Shirley Wood I had a great time. Mr. Hope was a real PRO all the way!
