Turtleneck Company

We're Using Steve Jobs

To Fight Cancer!

10/7/2011 4:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Steve Jobs and St. Croix Turtlenecks
Steve Jobs
' shrewd fashion sense could soon save lives -- TMZ has learned, the company that manufactured his favorite turtlenecks now plans to donate some of their proceeds to cancer research ... in his memory.

A rep for St. Croix knitwear tells TMZ -- starting today, the company will donate $20 to the American Cancer Society for every black mock turtleneck they sell. The offer expires next Thursday.

Unfortunately, the sweaters don't come cheap -- Steve's long-sleeved turtleneck of choice runs $175.

In other words, if you plan to pay tribute to Jobs on Halloween ... you better start saving up now.

The Amazon Kindle eBook "STEVE JOBS DEATH MOTIVATION SECRETS" pretty much summarizes Steve Jobs' philosophy about life, ironically enough.

How can you justify the cost of $175 for that ****? The cost of material can ONLY cost so much. I guess there are always idiots out there willing to over pay for anything and everything. I'll bet that same shirt is being sold elsewhere for $60... and a profit is STILL being made.

This is utter b*llsh*t. I'm all for charity, 100%...but they are only donating $20 when the shirt costs $175?! And like 'hehe' said, they only cost about $2 to make...maybe even $10. That is non sense, and they should be ashamed. They could have at least done half, or more like $50-$75. I wasn't an apple fan, and I have nothing against Steve Jobs...but this company could do much better than that. They only appear to be capitalizing on his death.

It is a nice idea but I smell a Law Suit. They CANNOT use his name, face and legend with out the approval of his estate. I wonder if St Croix got authorization for this. If not, NOT good.

Nice exploitation. Maybe these guys should get together with the cake boss attention whore dude and make a cake that depicts the turtlenecks, and then donate a dollar for every 100 they make selling the cakes.
