A rep for GoDaddy.com, one of Dan Wheldon's sponsors, sent TMZ this statement on behalf of their CEO and founder, Bob Parsons:

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dan Wheldon's family and friends on this sad, sad day. All of us in the IndyCar family feel an unexplainable sense of loss. Not just for the sport, but for all who knew Dan Wheldon. Dan was a family man, a father, a husband, a son and a brother. The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner was also a competitor and a colleague ... our deepest condolences go out to all who knew Dan."

Wheldon died today during a race in Las Vegas. He was 33.

Not engaing in such dangerous activity when you have small children and a wife to potentially be left behind certainly would have been the responsible thing to do. It's harsh to say, but this was a result of greed, ego, and selfishness. My thoughts and prayers go out to the survivors, but you don't go into something like that without knowing the risks. If there were no risks, we'd all do it like a ride at the amusement park.

To continue to do such a dangerous sport when you have young children is very irresponsible. The likelihood of something terribly going wrong such as this is very high. Sympathies to his family but very selfish of him as his family will now have to suffer for his choices. To say he died doing what he loved means nothing to his children who now will grow up without a father. I'm sure his children will appreciate his choices to, not
