Sharon Tate

Jewelry From Grisly Murder

Up For Auction

11/22/2011 1:40 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Murdered actress Sharon Tate's engagement ring -- the one she was said to be wearing when she was stabbed to death by the Manson Family  -- can now be yours, TMZ has learned ... if you're willing to drop at least $10,000.

According to the auction house hocking the ring, Tate's husband -- director Roman Polanski -- removed it from her finger when he was identifying her body at the morgue. He proposed to her with it in 1967.

For those who forget -- Sharon and her unborn child were brutally murdered in 1969 by followers of Charles Manson. Police were unable to determine a motive.

The ring hits the auction block on November 30th at ... along with a ton of other Hollywood and music memorabilia, including one of Madonna's bustiers and Justin Bieber's Super Bowl commercial jacket (below).

Check out the gallery below for more.
UPDATE: There are multiple stories that it was Roman Polanski's agent William Tennant -- and not Roman himself -- who identified Tate's body at the morgue. Roman was not in the country at the time.

There's a problem here

Um hello? The motive was Helter Skelter; the great race war between Blacks and Caucasians, at which time Charlie and his family would emerge from their lair in the desert to rule.

Um hello? Charlie knew the house. Charlie had been a guest in that house when it was occupied by Terry Melcher. I'm not sure if he knew Mr Melcher was there oor not at the time, but he knew damn well what house his family was to go to, unlike the unfortunate luck of the draw of the LaBiancos. Why the F are you writing copy if you can't investigate first? It's not like this isn't known by half the population of the USA.

I wouldn't get that ring. I don't want to wear something from someone who was killed while wearing it. Shouldn't that ring go to a family member?

I live near where Sharon Tate was murdered.
I would love to have the ring.
It would be a wonderful memory of her.

Maggie Murray

I watched Sharon Tate's sister on the news tonight. I want her to know that she is remembered for what she accomplished during her life. It bothered me when you said that she wasn't being recognized for her success. She was a victim, and anyone who grew up in the 60's have a special love and loss for her. Your sister was a winner, and so are you for being this strong. I feel your hurt for the cruel behavior in people today, but please try to see the public's side. Your sister was loved, not only for her talent as an actress, but for what she went through. Maybe you can help keep her success alive. I'm with you, and I'm very proud to see that you are fighting the big fight to keep these freaks off the streets. You're a hero too. Maggie

Love my fans you are a dumb bitch. That slut he so called molested is now almost 50 and even she wants to let it go. Her mother pimped her out, Roman was hardly a predator. God people are stupid. And what was considered tasteful in 1967 now may seem ugly but look at the beautiful homes back then and now we have these ugly Kardashian Faux Mediterranean messes that people think look good.

Who put it up for auction, Polanski? If not, isn't it stolen property?

What an appalling bit of misinformation. Roman Polanski was doing pre-film work for the film "Day of the Dolphin" in London at the time of the murder (Friday night, 8-8-69). His friend agent William Tennant came to the house and identified the body. Secondly, Sharon was wearing a plain gold wedding band at the time of death, identified clearly in the coroner's report as a "yellow metal band". It nauseates me that these many years later what auction sites, etc. will do to make money.

@en Todo Momento, please refrain from making utterly nonsensical and stupid, baseless comments without taking time to do your basic, garden-variety, easily-available research first. You speak of pure innuendo and completely without do***ented FACT.
