Sugarland Sued

You Could Have PREVENTED

Deadly Concert Disaster

11/23/2011 10:58 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Sugarland sued
The country duo Sugarland is being sued by dozens of people who claim they were injured in a devastating stage collapse at a concert in Indiana earlier this year ... all because the band allegedly failed to cancel the show when they KNEW the weather was getting bad.

More than 40 people -- including the estates of people who died in the accident -- filed the suit against the band in Indiana ... claiming the members of Sugarland had the authority to cancel the show because of bad weather.

According to the docs, Sugarland "failed" to call it off ... putting the fans in grave danger.

Moments before the performance on August 13, powerful winds blew in and knocked over the stage -- killing 7 people and injuring more than 45.

Sugarland isn't the only defendant in the lawsuit -- the alleged victims are also demanding unspecified damages from concert promoter Live Nation, ESG Security and the stagehands’ union.

Everyone wants to blame someone when life doesn't go their way. Who do I get to blame for my M.S.?

Bullsh*t! While it's very sad that people were killed and injured, if the weather was bad enough that the band should have known, all those grown ups and parents/guardians could have used a little common sense and stayed at home. Lazy, entitled *ssholes looking for a handout.

It is the deepest pocket offense. Which sort of surprises me. As bad as Sugarland is and that freaking annoying voice of the woman, I can't believe they would have much money at all. Come on, they are playing a FAIRGROUND, that tells me you need to find deeper pockets.

THE MOST RETARDED THING IV'E EVER HEARD. IF IT'S DANGEROUS AND YOU'RE STILL ATTENDING, YOU HAVE PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER!!! WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND HERE. YOU SEE THAT THE WEATHER IS BAD, YOU LEAVE OR FAIL TO ATTEND. DON'T BLAME IT ON THEM FOR MOTHER NATURE. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT THE WEATHER WAS GOING TO BE LIKE.

I understand them suing the other people but for them to go after sugarland is wrong. This is a what if scenario. What if they didn't go to the concert then they wouldn't be hurt. If I was sugarland I would counter sue them for being morons by coming out that day and for coming out with thislawsuits against them they have a case with the other people but not the band

These people are stupid and just looking for a quick buck... You get a frigging job! If the weather was that bad stay home. Sugerland did not personally set up the stage or make a call to god for a weather report. No one could have predicted that accident. It is sad that people lost their lives and it was tragic, but it is far from their fault. The lawyers and people suing need to sit down and ask themselves... "Am I really this stupid? Why did I not see the storm coming and stay home?" Answer: Your an idiot! This is why America is so screwed up!

Ridiculous! These "fans" have their own minds to make up, whether or not, to stay when there is a furious storm blowing their way. I mean...really.

Event organizers? MAYBE. The band who has expressed great sorrow after what happened there? No. Be smart about who you're suing, people.

This is ridiculous! If the weather was that bad, why did you go to the concert? If anyone should gets sued it should be the event organizer. Reminds me of the person who sued McDonald's because their coffee was too hot.

This is crazy. Someone smells a payday. If the people felt the weather was getting that bad why didn't they just leave instead of blaming Sugarland for not calling off the concert.

So the people couldn't have just left the concert because of the bad weather, it has to be put on Sugarland? Sad.

Yes this was a tragic event, but the band is not at fault. They didn't set up the stage. Would people have felt better if the band was on stage when it came down? If they HAD canceled the show, people would have complained about that. If the weather was set to be that bad, the whole fair should have been canceled. No one ever really knows what Mother Nature has in store. Also, no one MADE any of those people attend the concert.
