Patrice O'Neal

Dead at 41

11/29/2011 10:35 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Breaking News - Patrice ONeal died Monday night
Comedian Patrice O'Neal died Tuesday morning ... as a result of a stroke he suffered back in October ... this according to his friends at the "Opie and Anthony" radio show.

O'Neal had been a staple in the comedy world for years -- and performed at the "Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen" back in September.

O'Neal was a regular guest on the "Opie and Anthony" radio show -- and appeared on several TV shows such as "Chappelle Show," "The Office," and "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn."

Opie just tweeted, "Yes it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I've ever known PERIOD."

O'Neal was 41.

10:33 AM PST -- Patrice's rep, Matt Frost, tells TMZ ... "It is with terrible sadness we must report that Patrice O’Neal has passed away this morning at 7:00 AM due to the complications of the stroke he suffered on October 19."

Frost adds, "Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius. His mother, who was also his best friend, was at his side.  Patrice is survived by his wife, Vondecarlo; his step daughter Aymilyon, sister Zinder, and his mother Georgia."

"The family wishes to thank all of the fans and friends who have expressed an outpouring of love and support for Patrice these past weeks. We ask that you please respect the family’s request for privacy at this difficult time."

Now everyone will know why he was so shocked by the comments made to him on Charlie Sheen's Roast on Comedy Central regarding his health. He made it quite clear that his health wasn't a joke! What was funny is that during his monologue he didn't mention the bimbo who went over the line...the one that no one could remember her name! RIP Patrice O’Neal. You were one of a kind & made me laugh many times!

Patrice O'Neal was one of the greatest Political Satirist in history! He never rose to the prominence he deserved, in a world that wants the same old sex jokes rehashed. Patrice gave us intellectual insight with every set up and punchline. And if Steve Harvey, Cedric The Entertainer, Bernie Mac, and D.L. Hugley were the Kings of Comedy, Patrice O'Neal was Pope of Political Humor! The difference between Patrice and so many other harlot humorist out here is that Patrice never sacrificed his dignity in exchange for an applause or laughter. Patrice O'Neal dared to weigh-in with wisdom, while freeing our minds from the confines of conspiracy. With him, a Conspiracy Theory was always delivered as a Conspiracy Thesis, well researched and academically accurate, yet painfully funny. A man big in stature and larger than life in character, a true Goliath of generosity to his family, friends and fans. We love and miss you Patrice! by Malik Jubal

I don't know this comic's work, but I give sympathies to his family and loved ones. His representative Matt Frost wrote a lovely statement.

Funny how at the Roast, everyone was roasting him saying he was going to die. I wonder how they feel now.

If a white comic said half the stuff about black people that Patrice O'Neal did about whites, the white comic would never work again.

Hypocrisy in America.

Wow can't believe he actually died. This sucks, another brilliant comic gone way too soon. As a white person I'm glad he hated white people because he was funny as sh*t. A black man from Boston and he didn't care who you were or what you had to say he told you what he felt and he was right 99% of the time. He hated political correctness and said what most wouldn't dare say for fear of their careers or the backlash. He was real and wasn't one of those backpedalling apologetic fake comics. His Black Philip women / sex advice was brilliant, relevant and useful and I wish the book would have been made. His stories of bringing a briefcase full of glass d*ldos to bang Brazil hookers was hiliarious. He was right that Norton is the shape of any container you put him in, Vos is a drooling idiot, Colin is a nothing. Damn I'm gonna miss hearing him on O&A. It should've been fat Bob Kelly instead...

RIP Brother

R.I.P Patrice. Funny guy, the last time I saw him was at the DC IMPROV a few months back. He was leaning into some woman because she wasn't laughing. He was telling her boyfriend that he should've left her at home and he kept it going for a while. Everyone was rolling laughing, I felt bad for her. But hey, he made us laugh and that's what we paid for. He'll be missed, the staff at the DC IMPROV love him and that says alot seeing as how they watch live comedy every week. He was a funny dude.

On another note we need to start taking care of ourselves. The diet's that we were raised with are starting to catch up with us. I know he had diabetes and joked about his health but I honestly don't think he saw this coming, he was only 41 good grief. It's a sad day. Rest in peace Patrice, and may GOD be with your family during this difficult time.
