And 0 Balance on Credit Cards!

Zooey Deschanel is worth millions, spends relatively modestly, and has a zero balance on her credit cards ... this according to documents her lawyer just filed in her divorce case.

TMZ broke the story ... Zooey just filed for divorce from her hubby of 2 years -- Ben Gibbard, the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie.

For some reason, her lawyer attached Zooey's income and expense declaration.

Here's the lowdown:

-- Zooey -- who stars in "New Girl" -- makes an average of $95,000 a month
-- Her expenses average $22,550 a month
-- She has 3 credit cards ... AmEx, Visa and Mastercard, all of which have a 0 balance.
-- She has $1,578,000 in the bank
-- Zooey has an additional $1,645,000 in stocks, bonds, etc.
-- Zooey has real and personal property valued at $693,300

As for what she spends a month, Zooey says she drops $1,000 on groceries and household supplies, $500 eating out (really?), $800 on utilities, $300 for her various phones and email accounts, $600 in laundry and cleaning, $2,000 for clothes.

She also donates $1,500 a month to charity.

She makes more a month than I do in 2 years! I appreciate her charitable contributions though. Voice of an angel.

Maybe, Zooey and Matt Ward should just become an official "couple", and continue their transformation toward becoming the modern day "Sonny & Cher" type duo!!!!!!

Like her even more now, but the eating out cost makes sense since she's allergic to everything.

I'm not Mr. Spendy, but i'm pretty surprised the author is surprised by $500 a month eating out... that seems incredibly low to me. I eat out probably two times a week, for ~$40 a meal, and that's $320 a month (I also have zero debt, and pay off all my credit cards every month). Seems pretty reasonable to me.

oh please 3,000,000 ain't big bucks folks especially at her age. look for example at Paul Newman when he did the movie Blaze in 1989 he was paid 5 million up front and almost 2 million in profit participation or when His wife Joanne Woodward played Sarah Beckett in Philadelphia she was offered 11.5 million upfront and 7.8 million in profit participation + a percentage of future video/dvd sales but she refused the money because she felt like the story had to be told

You want to know the SADDEST part of this break down in the do***ent is? Her *LARGEST SINGLE LINE ITEM EXPENSE* (except for her Mortgage) is $2400 a month in "Health Care Premiums"
$400 to health insurance and $2000/moth in "Health Care Costs"

For many reasons, "Rich" people tend to Self Insure (is the beloved Russ Limbaugh "self insurance"---Many Companies in America choose to "Self Insure"---however even when you self insure, you need to have an Agreement to an Agency to handle the claims, etc.etc. that you (or the company you work for) eventually pays for.

If you look at the Bankruptcy Filing of Nortel Networks (an I.T. Company) The cost of COBRA (ie. the premium you are allowed to pay that's THE EXACT SAME the company pays (except I think a 3% allowed by law "up charge" the COBRA administrator is allowed to charge (not much).

It's 2,259.55 (for the employee and rest of their family)

When will America wake up and BREAK the Anti-Trust collusion of Healthcare Companies and Doctors?!?!?!

Also, another thing you gotta remember. If Zooey is living off Dividend Income from her Investments, Let's assume she's getting a "Modest" dividend return of 10% a year. That's $164,500 a year (she pays less than 10% tax on---Investment money you pay VERY LITTLE tax on...it's yet another way "The Rich" avoid paying taxes.

So, that 164,500 a year is $13,708 a month (which covers more than 1/2 of her bills...so she BARELY taps into her income to pay bills).

Again, the rest going into some for of trust to defer Taxes. She has loved ones (Older Sister, Parents)---she can put money into "Blind Trust" to defer Taxes. A "Blind Trust" means that the person who the money is allocated to, has no idea how much money is in the Trust. (even when turned over to them...many people write it up so that the recipient never knows).

I can ASSURE YOU that she's worth WELL OVER $3MM, it's simply not in "her name" so not an "asset" of *HERS* but is of the trust.
