Beyonce Baby Drama

Hospital Complaints [UPDATE]

1/11/2012 3:09 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The NY State Health Department is investigating complaints from new parents who claim they were mistreated by the staff at Lenox Hill Hospital while Beyonce was giving birth in the VIP room.

TMZ broke the story ... several parents are considering filing a lawsuit against LHH -- claiming they were neglected by staff and prevented from visiting their newborns ... due to the drama surrounding the superstar.

Now, a rep for the Health Dept. tells the NY Daily News, "Whenever we receive a complaint, we look into it. It’s not necessarily an investigation. It could be a review. Most likely in this case, it would be an investigation.”

It's unclear how many parents complained -- but as we previously reported, a whole bunch of people were griping about the situation during a breastfeeding class a few days ago.

5:49 PM PST -- The NY Health Dept. has announced it has reviewed and DISMISSED the complaints filed against the hospital.

However, a spokesperson for Lenox says the hospital will conduct its own internal investigation into allegations about the mistreatment of maternity patients.

All these people complained, to TMZ and any media source that would listen, but no one said anything to the hospital administrators? C'mon Son. GTFOHWTB!

Story from New York Associated Press:
eyonce gave birth to the couple's baby, Blue Ivy Carter, at the hospital on Saturday.

Media reports said Beyonce and Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, paid $1 million to take over a floor and their security guard blocked parents from the neonatal unit for hours. The hospital denied the reports, saying the couple paid the standard rate for an executive suite without disclosing what that is.

One new mother, Rozz Nash-Coulon, told The Associated Press that her twins, born Dec. 28, were in the neonatal unit and, starting Friday, intense security measures made it a struggle to see them as guards directed hallway traffic.

"Once they checked in there was high security everywhere," she said Monday. "It looked like the president was on our floor. The hospital's security cameras were taped over. Internal windows from the hallways into the ward were blacked out."

The hospital's executive director was heading up its own inquiry into the complaints, hospital spokeswoman Barbara Osborn said. The hospital was interviewing parents who had children in the newborn wing when Jay-Z and Beyonce were there, she said.

"We have spoken to seven out of the 10," she said. "None have reported being stopped from seeing their babies."

She confirmed that security cameras were briefly taped over when the Carter family was being moved, "but only when a security guard was present" on the fourth floor, where the neonatal unit is located. She declined to say why they were taped over.

She said that other parents at the unit did notice "enhanced security." But she said none felt restricted from accessing the unit or any other at the hospital.

Jay Z and Beyonce certainly have enough money to pay for their own private oncolologist, RNs, and medical personal at home. I am glad they have a healthy baby daughter, but this does not make any sense.

I hope she gave birth. I also hope it has her big bones and thighs. But I REALLY hope it has his nose and lips.

This hospital should be ashamed. Sounds to me like some "hush money" is going to be dished out?

I don't think it's right that the parent were restricted from seeing their newborns at times BUT Beyonce and Jay Z defiantly needed a lot of security. They are huge and regardless of what other people may say people do care. If I had the money I would pay to protect my family too. People will be hounding them just for a photo and they should be able to have some privacy even though they are celebrities.

I thought it was a breastfeeding class, not a griping class. Hope they stopped whining long enough to learn how to feed their babies.

Perhaps a better title for this piece of non news is How to cash in on a celebs baby.

So one of the people who filed the complaint admitted he hadn't even been in the hospital at the time. He only read about it in the newspapers. Seriously? Harvey you know you can get this info, why haven't you updated? I can't help but laugh at everyone jumping on the bandwagon and looking like idiotic sheep!

I suspect the hospital's surveillance cameras were quite "INFORMATIVE". It looks likes this crap is going to "backfire" on these people and they may find themselves being sued by the hospital for "TRASHING" them in the press. You just can't fix "STUPID"!!!

With enough money just about anything can be DISMISSED. Truly sad......

#93 Jenny that kind of thinking is exactly what is wrong - just because they are "huge" (as you call them) celebs and someone might want a picture gives them no right to interfere with other birthing couples in the hospital. If it was privacy they wanted they shouldn't have come to a PUBLIC hospital; they could have easily taken all that security money and had a medical team come to her home instead of forcing everyone else at the hospital to jump through hoops! As I've said though, money will buy you anything, even total disrespect........

On what grounds was it dismissed???? Sounds like some stupid technicality
