Whitney Houston

Found Underwater

2/12/2012 8:57 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Whitney Houston was found in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel yesterday ... with her face underwater
Whitney Houston was found in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel yesterday ... with her face underwater ... people close to Whitney tell TMZ.

According to our sources, her stylist, hairdresser and two bodyguards were among the people in the room at the time. We're told they became worried about Whitney because she had been in the bathroom for over an hour and it was time to start getting ready for the Clive Davis party.

Our sources say they began to knock on the door and there was no answer. We're told the hairdresser, who is female, went in to check on Whitney. She immediately screamed and, according to our sources, one of the bodyguards came running in and pulled her out of the tub.

We're told Whitney's face was below the water and her legs were up ... like she had slid down the back of the tub.

According to our sources, her body was very cold and the bodyguard attempted CPR. That's when hotel security was called.

Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter, but Whitney was pronounced dead at 3:55 PM.

That is, in my book, the worst way to die - drowning.

I seriously rather get shot in the brain - bam, done, over. But actually drowning... and something tells me she was really aware of what was going on, but the Xanax she took made it impossible for her to move. Can you imagine - seeking in your tub, and you unable to do a damn thing about it?...

LMAO at the conspiracy theorists.

Drowning in the tub is not unheard of. You fall asleep and slip under the water. It happens even in the absence of sleep inducing drugs.

Her team is not to blame. They gave her privacy while she bathed. Shocking. LOL. I regularly take half hour baths. Add in some time for dressing, undressing, applying lotion, and the many other things women do in the privacy of the bath and it is not shocking that they were not worried. Besides, it probably seemed unlikely that anything could happen in those cir***stances. The body guards are for outsiders and likely never hovered while she bathed.

You people looking to spread blame are idiots. It may be that someone is at fault in the end as more info is revealed, but these facts are not suspicious.

Did she drown or OD while these people were right there in the room? Oh man, what a terrible accident.

Whitney, one of the most powerful personalities in pop music, will sorely be missed by her many fans. Her voice, singing skills and rendition of hits were unique and defined the second half of the eighties and the early nineties. "I Will Always Love You" ranks as one of the greatest ever pop tunes alongside such world hits as Elvis 'It's Now or Never', Tom Jones' 'I Will Never Fall in Love Again" and the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody."

I feel for all her friends family & fans She was once someone I respected & loved to watch & listen to. Sadly I cannot respect what she became & am not at all suprised at her death however.. as the Mother of a 19yo daughter who died because of a lethal combination of antidepressants, stillnox & alcohol...I can understand how She was loved! As a daughter, a friend, an idol, a mother & a lover etc... So so sad.. for the many people who will now spend the rest of their lives... wondering what it was they could have done or said.. that would have saved her :( It is to them I send my heart full with love & sympathy & more than anything else, empathy. There will never be an end for them & My heart goes out to Bobby Christina...Go on Baby Girl...that is all that will honor her

Xanax could make you pass out while in the tub. I take clomazapam and its about the same thing. If you take it then take a hot bath you can fall asleep and if thats the case you could down cause your drugged on the meds

If her legs were up then it seems she most likely fell back into the tub. Maybe she had a seizure and hit her head at the bottom of the tub under water. omg very sad :(

Why when a celebrity is found in a life threatening condition isn't the FIRST call to 911? Is their reputation more important than their lives?

first off how many people found her body.first ray j then a stylist then the guard who next? over all sounds like an overdose by accident.if being an entertainer makes you do that, why bother.its just entertainment you can take a break when it gets to heavy.we only get one life lets live it not kill it.

oh I never heard about this til now...OMG..has anyone ever considered that she did this to herself for some reason..on purpose???can this be a suicide??there were people in that hotel room with whitney while she was in the bathroom so we can't say that someone sneaked in the room to try to hurt her...so it definitely cannot be ruled as a homicide.

some of you people are sick and disgusting. talking trash about someone who just passed away. ever heard of Karma? what goes around comes around. those words that you say right now can come back and bite you back in the butt. have a heart. how would you feel if this was one of your family members? everyone makes mistakes. maybe, she was just depressed. and no one was there to help her out when she really needed it.
