Gerard Butler

Table for One

2/25/2012 11:25 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Gerard Butler out of rehab... having lunch by himself in Malibu.
After three weeks in treatment for substance abuse at the Betty Ford Center, Gerard Butler was seen out yesterday ... having lunch by himself in Malibu.

As TMZ first reported, Butler developed a problem with pain medication following filming for his breakout role in "300." The problem returned when Butler was injured on December 18 while shooting the movie "Of Men and Mavericks."

Butler left rehab yesterday, with his manager releasing a statement that read, "Gerard left Betty Ford early this morning and he's healthy."

Perfect rehab situation.

Go in quietly, on your own.

Have your people:

Announce it once the task has been completed.

Congratulations all the way around.

And especially to Gerard.

Takes a big person to realize they have a problem and ask for help. Congratulations Sir.

Tease the husband constantly that if ever given the chance in a dark broom closet with this man....all Bets would be off for a few hours. This only enhances my imaginary love affair as gerard truly has a firm grip on his individuality with a good batch of intelligence and dose of confidence is explosively attractive!

His manager is a tool. People who go to rehab aren't "healthy." Even so, I applaud Mr. Butler's attempt to get clean. That said, let's not pretend like this is a little weekend trip to the local resort to get a massage and a manicure for a "healthy person." How to these PR and managerial people sleep at night knowing that they are essentially parasites and liars?

..
He looks a little "strung out" to me - probably just detoxing. Maybe Mel Gibson can treat him at his Rancho Apocalypto in Costa Rica, but I don't recommend Charley Sheen's Sober Valley Lodge or Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab House.
..
the best thing for Gerry would be riding real waves at Maverick's during a big north swell. He could have a life-changing spiritual awakening or die trying.

I wish that Gerry would get some roles like Dear Frankie and Coriolanus, more often, and less romcoms. He is so good, and such a funny guy. He won the stuntman award as an actor on 300 for doing his own stunts, and he must have had some bad injuries. Plus, he does his stunts in other films, and was almost killed on the last one. Good for him, for going in quietly and not using it for PR, or subjecting other patients to media circus. Get better, Gerry! You beat alcohol, you can beat this, too.

Whatever

Get better please! Haircut please! And he has THE coolest apartment I have ever seen in Architectural Digest. How to say this without mucking it up? Like a medieval modern blow out. Over the top and elegant and dark and fascinating. Blown away to this day. May 2010.

Yay for Gerard! He's a smart one and I'm glad he has handled this so pro-actively! I would hate to lose him like we did other notable train-wrecks (Whitney, Michael, Anna Nicole and probably Lindsey.) I wish him all the best.

With all the money these Hollywood actors make, they should have some class and dignity to buy themselves a haircut, and a shaver. Could care less about his rehab, look at that hair!!!

It's sad - he was a very handsome commodity (eventhough he is no Laurence Olivier in the acting department). In the time that it took him to succumb to his demons, other younger overseas actors have jumped in to take his place as the next Hollywood heart-throb - i.e. - Tom Hardy - an incredible English actor - just rent the movie, Charles Bronson & you'll see what I mean.
