Bear Grylls

FIRED By Discovery Channel

3/13/2012 10:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

For the first time in his career, "Man vs. Wild" star Bear Grylls has failed to survive ... at the Discovery Channel -- because the network just fired him.

A rep for Discovery tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Due to a continuing contractual dispute with Bear Grylls, Discovery has terminated all current productions with him."

Sources tell THR, the relationship came to a screeching halt after 37-year-old Grylls refused to participate in two mystery projects he was contracted for.

Grylls originally partnered with Discovery in 2006 when "Man vs. Wild" premiered on the network. So far, no word on Grylls' next move ... though it will probably somehow involve him drinking his own urine.

his show was ridiculously tedious anyway! How often does anyone get lost in a jungle and needs to practice survival just in case? Not often! worthless shows on tv make you want to turn your tv off. Want to get educated, read a book.

Contract is a contract, but one of the best reality shows ever. My little boy @ the age of two was influenced by Bear and ate a huge spider, in which we were too late to respond. It was like "NOOoooo", crunch, crunch gone.

I always thought that Les Stroud was amazing and always wanted to go with him on his adventures. MORE SURVIVOR MAN, Im sure Grylls and his cameraman were frisky under the covers, why he always complained of his butt hurting
thank you goodbye, Les STROUD RULESSS!!

Sorry but discovery you just farked up. Bear is one of the few reasons to watch discovery anymore. I don't think you quite understand his popularity, especially on the internet.

Good, he was a fraud anyway. In fact, as a very experienced 'survivalist' I can say with confidence that 90% of the stuff he does and preaches would get real people into dangerous or deadly situations. He's a tosser.

I think that was dumb of them. But I have a feeling there is someone else waiting for him to take him under there wing. NBC always needs ratings right.?

Finally, Discovery! It's about time. Who wants to watch a fake reality survival show by a guy in an ever-spotless button down and khakis with a support crew and safety gear? I think Les Stroud should be on more instead. He's the real deal. Discovery needs to step up their game. History channel is kicking their behinds these days!

Bear Grylls should have been fired a long time ago for masquerading as a survivor while staying in hotels and taking unnecessary risks for the camera, which in a survival situation would be the LAST thing you would want to do. Phony
