Peyton Manning

Move Over, Tim Tebow

I'm Officially a Bronco!!!

3/20/2012 12:20 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Peyton Manning holds his jersey. He is officially a Denver Bronco.
Peyton Manning
is officially a Denver Bronco -- which means Tim Tebow's out of a job.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen just made the announcement alongside Broncos legend John Elway -- a deal worth a reported $96 million over 5 years, making Peyton the highest paid player in the NFL.

John Elway made it clear during the announcement ... the Broncos are NOT a Super Bowl caliber team with Tim Tebow.

Peyton -- who will wear #18 on the team -- said he's unsure about Tim Tebow's future ... but claimed, if Tebow stays with the Broncos next year, "I'm going to be the best teammate I can be."

Elway said a Tebow trade hasn't been discussed with other teams yet -- but admitted it's very possible the Broncos will get rid of him. Elway speculated Tebow was "disappointed" by the announcement -- but Tebow never said it to him. According to Elway, Tebow was very understanding about the Broncos' decision.

The #18 is significant in Broncos history -- it once belonged to famed Broncos QB Frank Tripucka in the 1960s ... and retired with him. Peyton said Frank personally asked Peyton to resurrect his number, so the Broncs UN-RETIRED it just for PM.

Now that the acquisition's official -- the Broncos will be trying to trade Tebow ... though it's unclear where the 24-year-old will be headed.

Several teams have reportedly been in discussions about snagging Tebow -- who led the Broncos on a tumultuous ride through the playoffs last season -- including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets.

the #18 is important to Archie Manning fans as well since it was Archie's number at Ole Miss. Archie is Peyton's father.

They could have had a win-win situation, Peyton Manning as the veteran as a mentor to the young Tebow... I don't think they should trade Tebow, he's not an injury prone 36 year old.. Elway is an *******.

Peyton signs another huge contract, but with a different team, and Hines Ward retired from football because he doesn't want to wear another teams jersey and wants to retire having played his entire career as a Steeler....Peyton should have retired. How much more money does he need and is he willing to go thru this type of surgery again (or worse)?

Whatever...

John Elway is a major league D-Bag. He hasn't liked Tebow since day one and has made that clear. Elway is a classless jerk who can't seemed to reveling in kicking a guy while he is down. Elway is just as big a crybaby now that he is washed up as he was when he was actually playing. Don't worry Tim, if you get traded at least you'll be away from ol' "fake an injury when the team is losing so they will blame the backup quarterback" Elway.

It's obvious there are no smart football fans on TMZ lol. Manning still has it, I actually feel sorry for HIM to go to such a crap team. He should've chosen Frisco and finished out his already HOF career with a couple more rings. Tebow fanboys need to quit. He sucked, had crappy mechanics and was basically a running back throwing the ball. He'd have been shown the door after this season anyway when his true colors showed. Manning is one of the smartes players ever. Too bad he'll end his career with a few more early playoff losses thanks to crappy teams that HE single handedly makes better. SMH

You may or maynot like Tim but really it just shows how cruel sports can be, Tim had a good year and where was PM sitting on the bench doing nothing, oh well glad I dont leave in Denver. Tim will land on his feet and will have a long career

Now everyone will be watching Bronco games to see if/when Manning gets the career ending hit.
Sure would be funny if Tebow's next team goes to the Super Bowl and Denver doesn't, whether he's the starting quarterback or not - he still gets a ring.
