'Chernobyl Diaries'

Horror Flick RIPPED By

Victim Support Group

5/21/2012 5:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The new Jesse McCartney horror flick "Chernobyl Diaries" is a slap in the face to the 400,000 victims of the real-life nuclear disaster ... so says a Chernobyl recovery organization.

For those unfamiliar with the Chernobyl disaster ... (shame on you if you're one of them) ... scores of people were killed or disfigured when the nuclear power plant exploded in the Ukraine in 1986.

Now, the Friends of Chernobyl Centers U.S. tells TMZ ... it's furious with the plot of the new movie -- in which several people who were mutated in the blast hunt down unwitting tourists.

"It is terrible that such a tragic event as Chernobyl is being sensationalized in a Hollywood horror film," a rep for the org tells us.

"Thousands of people have died and over 400,000 people were evacuated from their homes. Today over 5 million people still live on contaminated land.  The horror is not mutants running around, the real horror is the effect that Chernobyl continues to have on the lives of millions who have been devastated physically, emotionally and economically."

The rep adds, " If you feel compelled to go see this movie, take the adrenalin you get from the horror to go do something good and make a difference in the lives of those still living with Chernobyl every day."

One disaster doesn't trump another - there are several things that happen in history and movies been made of it . I would support the movie because its a movie...not a false do***entary.

Remember 9/11 - its been stuff on that
World Wars
Earth quake disasters

many people were killed - the movie just bring awareness to people that don't know-

It's a movie. Period.
Enough of the overly sensitive politically correct bullsh*t.

Everyone is looking for an excuse to whine and complain (and be compensated) for every damn thing.

Not to sound like a total jerk, but they do realize that EVERY tragedy that's ever taken place in the world has been made into a movie (be that a good movie or not) by Hollywood. Seriously, NOTHING is off limits to Hollywood... even if it should be.

Do they stil teach history in school? I get that the youngsters these days think the world started the day they were born, but it is important to know the past before we were born. Although it seems like the world will never learn from our past mistakes, It is still good to know where we and our families came from and the amazing inventions and historic moments that made us who we are today.

What a pathetic idea. Sends a terrible message about Hollywood, shame on Warner Brothers. Waste of money too, doesn't seem like it will do well.

Does this disaster have anything to do with Ukrainian women. Eastern european girls are by far the prettiest in the world. Russia and Ukraine are the most attractive by far today. It seems like their genes are pure and there's not alot of mixing races. Every time I see something filmed over there I can always spot tons of hot chicks all over the place. Mila Kunis anybody?
