Charles Manson Prosecutor

Hospitalized

After Cancer Surgery

The man who put Charles Manson in prison is currently hospitalized in California, following complications from cancer surgery ... TMZ has learned.

Former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's wife tells TMZ, her husband underwent surgery back in April for stage 2 cancer.

According to his wife, the surgery appeared to be successful at first, but Vincent experienced complications shortly after, and was admitted to the ICU. Vincent's wife wouldn't specify the nature of the complications.

Vincent's wife adds, "He has been in very bad shape for some time. He regained consciousness this week, finally starting to be on the road to recovery. He's going to be in rehab for a long time."

Vincent left the ICU last week but is still hospitalized.

Thanks to Vincent's badassness back in the day -- Charles Manson was convicted of seven murders in 1971 and sentenced to death. Manson's death sentence was reduced to life in prison a year later when California abolished the death penalty.

77-year-old Manson's latest request for release was denied in April -- and since he's not up for parole again for another 15 years, chances are he'll die behind bars.

"Manson's death sentence was reduced to life in prison a year later when California abolished the death penalty." Uh, Harvey, you sure about that? You sure it wasn't SCOTUS and Furman that affected Charlie's death sentence?

Prayers and best wishes to Vince Bugliosi for a speedy recovery. Vince is one of the best prosecutors to ever step foot in a courtroom.

I am sorry to hear that he is ill. He was a great prosecutor and he wrote a wonderful book titled "Helter Skelter" about the Manson murders and the trial.

I know Vincent and he is one of the most brilliant prosecutors of our time and a very nice man to boot. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I have doubt of his brilliance. This man wrote a book called "Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy" (1648 pages!!!). And yet, when he was interviewed not long a go, he didn't even know that secret service was called off from JFK's car just moments before shooting.

Too bad he wasn't the prosecutor in the OJ case Nicole and Ron would have justice and we wouldn't have to endure the people who are making a fortune from the notoriety of a member of their family getting a double murderer acquitted.

Hmm complications from cancer surgery. Maybe he just needs to switch doctors and hospitals. Someone could be trying to get revenge on him for putting those Manson murderers away. I think Manson said he was connected all over, which is why Bugliosi had such a struggle to get them locked up. Maybe people in high places resent the good work he did and want revenge.

I believe some of the Manson women got out. I haven't heard of them committing any more crimes. They try to say that they were under Manson's spell and that they wouldn't otherwise have acted like that. I wouldn't trust them anyway.

I believe there are parallels with the Son of Sam killings, there is a Satanic network that arranges these things using the losers and bums from society to become puppets to do their evil bidding.

That evil b@stard Manson will outlive everyone of them who were involved in these murders and the trials.

That is very sad.

it is my understanding that this guy never lost a case as a prosecutor. To me that means he is a good storyteller and that he has done a lot of injustice, cause everyone he tried cannot be actually gulity of the crime.

TMZ NEVER gives ages. We want to know how old they are. It's basic reporting. Do your job.
