Gov. Chris Christie

Fightin' Words

On the Jersey Shore

7/6/2012 10:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0_2yjedc81_0_7ipzit1lThings got downright HOSTILE on the Jersey Shore last night -- with NJ Governor Chris Christie getting into a heated verbal altercation right on the boardwalk ... and it was all caught on tape.

Gov. Christie (R-NJ) was hangin' with his family in Seaside Heights ... and had just ordered an ice cream cone when a passerby fired off some snide comments about Christie's policy on education.

Christie got PISSED -- and while clutching his cone, shouted back at the guy, "You're a real big shot ... you're a real big shot shootin' your mouth off."

The man shouted back, "Nah, just take care of the teachers!"

The comment only inflamed Christie ... who aggressively marched towards the guy and warned, "Keep walkin' away ... really good ... keep walkin'."

Soon after, someone in Christie's party put his arm around the 49-year-old and escorted him in the other direction.

FYI -- Christie, one of the prime contenders for the Republican Vice Presidential nomination, has recently signed legislation expanding public funding for charter schools ... a decision that has infuriated some who would prefer the money go towards struggling public schools.

Christie's temper has been making headlines after he called a reporter "stupid" and an "idiot" on Saturday for asking off-topic questions at a news conference.

Christie's camp had no comment on the story.

Why doesn't tmz show the whole video? what was it that sparked the Gov to react like that with his family around? If they cannot show the video why not show the text of the confrontation?

what a great example for kids in NJ to have a vertified Bully as a governor. Come on, Christie, learn some manners, If all you can do is use profanity and jibes to fight back against others (whether they do it or not, YOU are the Governor), then you're a bully. Great example. And the number of adults who love this shows us why bulllying is still so prevalent... what example have they been to their own children.

That's not loosing "cool" its call fortitude toward the excellent policies Mr. Christie has put I place. People say it’s a “teachers” issue but that’s not the problem, it an administrative issue. How many assistant principals do we need, how many assistant superintendents do we need. It is an absurd number in most school districts. If these so called managers were reduced in numbers there would be much more resources for “teachers.” I support Governor Christie 100%

no one realizes that the guy was on vacation with his 16 and 9 year old daughters with an absolute loud mouth yelling f this and f that about Christie's stance on public funding for education...which was secondary to the guy's language and not letting Christie enjoy time with his family. But TMZ would NEVER put that portion up online...no...we just need the last 30 seconds with Gov Christie talking...because it's about painting him in a bad light...come on!!! Unreal!!!

I have read many times how "trashy" "Rude" etc the Gov is.. and I am not a fan nor republican, however.. calling him "pig" and "fat" etc, is just as trashy and is classless. You don't like his behavior? You think it is rude and our children don't learn something positive from him? Voice it appropriately.. anything else? Is just as bad.

What a pig -all mouth when he has a team of bodyguards protecting him. Maybe he was afraid the guy was trying to take away his ice cream. I don't care where you live there is no excuse for political rudeness.

Honestly, is that the best you have people?? Wisecracks about the guy's weight and him eating an ice cream?? The past two governor's of New Jersey were complete jokes!! Talking about lack of self control- McGreevey had a wife and child and was hooking up with complete strangers in bookstore and rest stop bathrooms! Corzine's terms as Governor were tainted with corruption and scandal- all because of greed! Chris Christie was what New Jersey desperately needed! He has been proactive and has done an excellent job in office!

Chris Christie, a gluttonous bad tempered thin skinned poor excuse for a national position. I don't think he is going to be a VP choice for Romney and if he were chosen Romney would lose my vote. How can you respect a person who can't control his personal issues? He shouldn't even be eating in public - it makes me sick to watch him.

The man needs an overhaul, if he wants to change the image of New Jersey he should keep his mouth shut and get to work!!! His image is appalling!
