'Modern Family' Cast

WE WANT OUT

The cast of "Modern Family" wants out of their current contracts for the show -- all in a bold move to score much fatter paychecks.

The cast members -- Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara -- just filed a lawsuit against 20th Century Fox TV, demanding their contracts be declared null and void.

According to the lawsuit, the contracts violate a "7 year" law in California that bars personal service contracts with a duration longer than 7 years. As a result, the cast wants them tossed out ... presumably so they can renegotiate for more money.

The cast also wants the freedom to pursue other acting gigs outside "Modern Family" and Fox -- a freedom that's severely curtailed by their current contracts.

It's the latest in the bitter salary negotiations between the cast members and 20th Century Fox.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox recently made an offer to increase the cast's salary as follows: $150,000 per episode plus a $50,000 per episode bonus for season 4; $200,000 per episode for season 5, $225,000 for season 6, and up to $325,000 for an anticipated season 9.

But the cast reportedly rejected the offer and is now demanding much, much more.

As for "Modern Family" patriarch Ed O'Neill, he's not listed as a plaintiff on the lawsuit -- but THR reports, he has since decided to join his cast members out of solidarity.

I say cancel the show, they've had their run, its not even that funny and the reason people watch it is because nothing else is on. Sick of these rich snobby movie stars always demanding more money. If they had to work a normal job with only two weeks a year off, they couldn't make it. If the normal person demanded such an increase in pay, they would be out of a job. FIRE THEM ALL. There will always be a new show. Sick of these stinkin movie stars. They get all the money, perks and lets not forget the celebrity justice.

We should all stop watching the show and see what happens. If their contracts become null and void; they are taking a chance on being replaced.

Does anyone actually realize that money does NOT grow on trees??

When actors and athletes get paid ludicrous amounts of $$$$ - it all gets passed down to the consumers! Us! You!

The advertisers pay top dollar for spots during these high-priced hit shows. Where do you think those companies make up for that expense?

Why the hell do you think the price of sporting event tickets and Nike shoes skyrocketed?

So if you're going to defend the insanely high salaries these people get for sports and entertainment, fine - but then you need to also shout out: "And I'm happy to be paying for it out of my own pocket!!"

Don't you love when rich people who read a script for a living ask for more money to read a script? Personally, I think those people who are in the armed forces, police officers, and firemen should be the ones asking for more money since their jobs save lives. T.V. shows are just mindless entertainment.

I never feel sympathy for actors when they are on a hit show and want MORE MONEY! Gee, I am praying for 8 hours of overtime so I can pay my whole rent at once next month!

Why is everyone standing up for the big guy (Fox) and not the little people (the actors on the show)?
These actors would earn $200,000 with Fox's offer, so they currently earn less than that. In 3 months, fox had profits of $7,430,000,000. Tell me how these actors are being greedy again? Especially since they are on one of the top rated television shows, and they, along with the writers, ARE the show?

What a crock of crap. They are making enough now. Think of the poor people out there that would kill for that kind of income. Shame on them for being greedy.

it is a good show, and they have now made their names known and gotten awards. Sofia was just pointed out to be THE highest paid actress and has many endorsements. (cover girl, Pepsi, and others) She really should sit down and shut her mouth - show some gratifying actions for being where she is now. The red headed dude has been in movies, on TV and really has been a part player for a while. Ed O' Neil got his name with Married ..with children and understands that if you bite the hand. If they really do keep the demand up the show is going bye bye and so will they. People in Hollywood watch this and take notes. not a smart move.
