Simon Cowell

'The Voice' is

Afraid of Britney

Simon Cowell is furious at NBC for trying to sandbag next week's premiere of "X Factor" by adding a Wednesday installment of "The Voice" ... declaring, "This is a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional way of doing business."

Simon tells TMZ, he thought he had a "gentleman's agreement" with NBC ... that "The Voice" would run Mondays and Tuesdays, and "X Factor" would run Wednesdays and Thursdays on FOX ... so fans could watch both.

Simon says NBC is turning on its own audience, forcing them to choose between Christina Aguilera's show and Britney Spears' new show. And speaking of them, Simon says, "Britney's not going to appreciate the fact that Christina -- who has been a bit of a rival -- isn't allowing Britney to have a night of her own."

Simon tells TMZ, he believes the move is as personal as it gets, because "The Voice" came to England and went head-to-head with Simon's show, "Britain's Got Talent" and got its ass kicked.

Simon says, "These guys have really got it in for us. It's nothing short of dirty tricks."

Cowell adds, "The reason they've done this is they don't want people to see 'X Factor' because they've heard how good the series is. They don't want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don't want their audience to see Demi Lovato."

Simon says he doesn't think Britney knows yet, but when she finds out "She's going to be devastated because she's put her heart and soul into this."

As for Cowell, he says he's not scared, adding, "I can't bear it that the network is playing political games and playing with the audience."

The Voice should be afraid of the X-Factor period. The Voice is on its way out anyway.

My problem with his statement, if they actually are from him seeing as TMZ doesn't exactly exude moral practice, is him dragging Britney into this. Even Christina. This is his 'battle' not theirs and I'm sure neither of them give 2 sh!ts about it, lol. Simon is just doing this for publicity, that's all. He knows, as does NBC XFactor will beat it Wednesday night, they are however trying to bite into their debut so their's (Monday) comes out bigger...which it won't.

He shouldn't have released this kind of statement. He sounds scared. There's no reason to be frightened Simon, The Voice sucks. You're giving it way too much credit that it definitely doesn't deserve.

In this digital age of TEVO and DVR recording Cowell's gripe doesn't hold water. He is throwing a hissy fit just for attention. X Factor, in truth, fell short in the U.S. last year and has a dismal projection for viewers again this year. If his show is all that great he should not mind going against The Voice. His BS about networks' gathering round a camp fire and singing Kumba Ya in collaboration
is laughable. Networks compete! To the winner goes the spoils.

Uh

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone over the age of 10 would watch either one of these ad infested "shows". Both the networks involved are best suited to be viewed only on Saturday mornings so parents can gain some extra sleep.

X Factor ratings was horrible last year and The Voice ratings was awesome. Simon Cowell should be lucky that X Factor did not get cancelled. Simon Cowell knows that his show need ratings otherwise he have Britney or Demi on there.

He asked Christina to be on X Factor! But Christina said no, she told him she didn't want to be a part of that. And a couple weeks later she goes and signs for The Voice. That's why he's so mad! He's been talking sh¡t ever since.

As long as they have a TV, no one will be "kept" from watching either show. What, people suddenly can't change channels or DVR? Please, this guy is such a drama queen.

Come on Simon, you started all this, bashing at Xtina and The Voice because she didn't want to join x factor and you hire britney on purpose to compete with Xtina. he's such a hypocrite. i am watching The Voice since the coaches are REAL singers.

Simons knows what he's doing, but is only concerned bc he prob get a higher payday if his show wins the night. There are enough rubes to go around to watch both shows.

There was no legitamt reason for NBC to do this except to create a problem. As much as i enjoy watching Christina on the Voice I'll record it to watch at a later time.I;ve been looking forward to seeing Britney on Xfactor so it is my first choice.
