'Pawn Stars' Sued --

I Made You Guys Famous ...

and You SCREWED Me

10/4/2012 2:55 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

1004_pawn_Stars_article
Rick, Corey, the Old Man and Chumlee ... are all getting their asses sued by their ex-manager, who claims he discovered the "Pawn Stars" and made them famous ... only to get stabbed in the back.

The man behind the lawsuit is Wayne Jefferies -- who claims he found the guys from Gold & Silver Pawn back in 2007 and got them a reality TV show deal with A&E and the History Channel ... after Rick had struck out in the past.

Jefferies claims things were going great for years -- with the show killing it in the ratings and the guys all cutting various endorsement deals ... including credit cards, slot machines, books and even an energy drink.

But according to the suit, things fell apart earlier this year .. when network honchos became upset over a story Jefferies claims he leaked to TMZ. The story detailed how the "Pawn Stars" cast was blindsided when they learned A&E had commissioned a "Cajun Pawn Stars" spinoff.

In his suit, filed by powerhouse attorney Richard A. Schonfeld, Jefferies claims network execs pressured the "Pawn Stars" cast to cut ties with Jefferies ... which they did.

Jefferies is now suing the "Pawn Stars" guys for breach of contract ... and he's also suing A&E, the History Channel and various execs for interfering with his management deals.

Jefferies is asking for unspecified damages. Calls to the Pawn Stars and the networks have not been returned.

These folks make leeches look saintly. They show a few interesting things but you gotta watch a lot of crap.

I worked in a Washington, DC pawn shop owned by my uncle for over 10 years, and with the exception of some high-end jewelry, gold coins, and guitars, not once did anyone walk in to pawn or sell the kind of stuff that shows up regularly on Pawn Stars. For example, no sane person walks into a pawn shop to hock an autographed Lou Gehrig jersey!! That obviously should go to a memorabilia auction. Pawn Stars is obviously faked, but I still enjoy watching it for the entertainment. if you want to watch something "real," watch Antique Roadshow.

Like most other "reality" TV shows, they all start out great with "real" situations. Unfortunatley, as the show gains popularity and success, the producers try to "tweak" it by adding scripted scenerios. It's as obvious as the nose on my face. That's when I stop watching. If I want to watch scripted programs, there are many more to choose from.

HardCoreSPAWN...is nothing but canned Drama Llama.....You can even catch that the attention whores customers are already pre-mic'd for the stage. Plus those crooks offer the customers bottom dollar telling them they cant get much in return, then the producer does a one on one with the Golds and they gloat on how much profit they are going to make on the item they scored!

Regardless, these guys are a bunch of ignorant s***bags. They prey on the weakness and ignorance of people and give them 25% of value on things they know they can immediately sell for 3 or 4 times that much money. Put em out of business, they're no better than drug pushers or investment scammers.

USed to like the show but it's becoming really grating. The old man as the grouch. Chum as the idiot. Coey as the greasy slob. Cajun Pawn Stars is much more interesting. They buy better stuff.

A legitimate claim? Sounds more to me like the Pawn guys had a legitimate claim to fire the guy. If someone at my business went behind my back to TMZ with rumors, I'd fire them too.

I think they should settle for 500,000, no we will give you 300,000. I think we should meet somewhere in the middle, I'm thinking 400,000! No, we might be able to give you 325,000 that's our best offer. Can you go 350,000? 340,000 or we walk. Ok, I will take it.

The show is also 30 minutes long this year. 'Cajun Pawn Stars' is no real competition, and THIS show is no great thing any more. It's predictable, and obviously staged. (who is going to make comments BEFORE entering the store?) THe rapid scene changes may be fun for the editor, but you don't get to SEE anything but 'Lower Thirds' and the 'stars' faces, which will not win a beauty contest.
