Phillip Phillips

I LOVE MY FAMILY

But ...

11/6/2012 6:13 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Phillip Phillips might consider a career in boxing ... 'cause when we asked about the rift in his family yesterday, the "American Idol" champ bobbed and weaved like he was Mike friggin' Tyson.

Phillips had just arrived at LAX yesterday when we asked him why he's refusing to help out his financially-struggling family ... which has been forced to sell the family pawn shop.

Phillips couldn't have been nicer when we asked the question ... but did everything he could to deflect.

For example -- "I have no comment ... but my album's coming out soon."

Ultimately, Phillip told us he loves his family, but wouldn't get into details about the situation on the home front.

But seriously ... INCREDIBLE deflection job.

This is such a non-story. Anybody who knows anything about American Idol contracts knows he isn't making squat off that song of his and the advance he may have gotten for his album is probably not enough for him to live comfortably on, let alone bail his family on. But it doesn't matter because it is NONE of our business.

Im sure he cares about his family, its not his responsibility to take care of his family's business.

What most intrigues me is why people are assuming he's rich. Because he won?American Idol? Really?

I bet his parents have a good incoming from retirement and this guy even haven't bought his own house yet.

Leave the kid alone. That business has been up for sale for months.

Sometimes families suck out loud. Sometimes parents are SO awful that their adult children in order to save themselves must leave the family behind. The only way that happens - which absolutely goes against human nature, then the parents earned it. A million times. Neglect. Abuse. Disrespect. Typically children - young ones or adult children, don't divorce parents or a family unless its emotional life or death. This kid did nothing to earn anyone's scrutiny. He doesn't deserve to be hit by media. The media is bullying him because it's a slow gossipy news day. The media should stick to hitting people who deserve to be hit. Like Romney.

He has no obligation to help with that family business. If they were not good hard workers, they would have lost the business with him present or helping or not. I am certain he is not that rich by now and every penny he has is trying to get his music published anyway. Those freeloaders need to shut up.

TMZ, you showed a graphic of the pawn shop with a For Sale sign on it, and the overhead sign said to vote for Phillip. So either no one's changed the vote for sign for a while, OR THE PAWN SHOP HAS BEEN UP FOR SALE FOR A LONG, LONG, LONG TIME.

Get the story straight, would ya?

Hope his inflated head busts down to nothing with low sales in the music world. You DON'T abandon your family - EVER!!!!!

Young guy just trying to follow his path and do what he loves, he shouldn't be burdened right now with worrying about financially saving anyone, or burdened by society butting into his business and making him feel bad.
He should be excited and happy right now, not feeling bad and judged by random strangers.

Phillip is the victim here! TMZ is lying over and over again. Phillip's brother/brother in-law tweeted saying a family member was trying to get money from Phillip! Get your facts straight TMZ! And guys, don't trust this crappy "news" website!

Many families bleed their kids success . Just ask a bankrupt million dollar athletic.
I spent a lot of money on my kids not expecting anything in return. It was especially tough but gratifying helping my heavy metal guitarist son the past fifteen years.
Perhaps he was generous during the Idol euphoria while discovering it his generosity was now expected.

A MESSAGE FOR PHILLIP : I am sure there is great love between you and your family. Please stay on the same course by keeping your privacy, private. Going public will only cause hurt and humiliation for both you and your parents. You do not need it and, neither do they. Blessings and Best Wishes to you and to your family, always.

Why the heck should he have to bail out his family's failing business? Why should he have to invest thousands of dollars into something that is not guaranteed to produce an ROI and could still fail?! Maybe he's been fiscally smart...it's called logic, but if TMZ ever used any sort of logic they wouldn't have tabloid stories to spin.
