Jodie Foster

Kinda Comes Out

at The Golden Globes

Jodie Foster
said it wasn't a "coming out" speech, but after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes ... the legendary actress sort of did just that.

In a bizarre, rambling and aggressive speech, Foster told the crowd she was single (*wink, wink) and talked about trying to live a private life ... one which has never involved having her own reality show ... or talking about her sexual orientation.

Then, Jodie kinda sorta did an about-face, saying she did her "coming out 1,000 years ago" and went on to thank her ex-partner and co-parent, Cydney Bernard.

It's a speech that really just defies explanation, so just watch the video and piece it together for yourself.

By the way ... best line of the night was the last, when Amy Poehler, with Tina Fey by her side, ended the show by saying, "Thank you very much. We're going home with Jodie Foster."

I've known she was a lesbian for years. What's the big deal? If not for the GOP and religion homosexuality wouldn't be a big deal in this country

Who decided the PC rules that it is just fine to insult a 7 year old child (Honey Boo Boo) but when commenting on homosexuals one must take great care or suffer the wrath of being branded a homophob.

Her private life hasn't been a secret. She's lived out for a long time.

Jodie,

That was a very moving and tearful heart felt acceptance speech last night... Also you have the World's collective heads spinning with that other personal, it's nobody's business subject... Good for You... I always respected you and enjoyed all of your work...
You are probably the Most Sincere person in that Wood town...
Keep up the good work and living...
Thanks Again...

wow, she must have been practicing the speech for along time..........also drinking or whatever a bit last night to be so 'out there'. She came across loaded, hyper, angry to some degree and so opposite of the Jodi we usually see, speaking in public: usually some why quiet in nature and not a whole lot say. This speech came across like she was rambling. Perhaps too much time preparation. As far as coming out.........hell, haven't we known that for years? Touchiong moment when she was speakig directly to her mother, who apparently has some form of dementia, or ahaltimerze. (SP?)

really! really?

When Jodi first came out, being gay was still weirdly taboo so I think she took last night to do a do-over. Jane Lynch, Ellen, etc. are accepted and embraced and Jodi wants to be embraced in the same way. It came across as creepy and unnecessary though.

Major attention grab. That speech was hardly spontaneous - too many set lines. Ironic though as she pleads for privacy while seeking out headlines - which she got!
