Dead at 92

0119_stan_musial_gettyStan Musial -- the Hall of Fame outfielder who played for the St. Louis Cardinals for 22 seasons -- passed away today. He was 92.

The Cardinals announced Musial's passing in a press release. He died Saturday evening at his home in Ladue, Mo., surrounded by family.

Musial won seven National League batting titles, three MVP awards and led the Cardinals to three World Series championships in the 1940s.

Musial was a .331 career hitter with 3,630 career hits, 475 home runs, and 1,951 career runs batted in.

I grew up watching him play. On and off the field he was quite a man. Today's players could learn a lot from him. "Stan the Man" will be missed.
