Burt Reynolds

I'm Leaving the ICU!

1/26/2013 10:15 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

0126-burt-reynolds-tmzBurt Reynolds is on the road to recovery after battling a scary case of the flu this week -- which left him hospitalized in the ICU -- as he's officially being moved to the regular wing of the Florida hospital.

A rep for Burt tells TMZ the actor's fever broke this morning -- which is what the doctors had been waiting for -- and he will make the move out of the ICU today.

We're told his family and friends are extremely happy to see him recovering ... considering earlier in the week it was very "touch and go."

The condition of his mustache remains the same.

Good to hear. I shook his hand about 5 years ago as he was on his way out of a restaurant as I was going in. Extremely nice guy.

Good to hear that he's getting better. The Golden Palomino scene in his film, Hooper, was filmed near where I grew up as a kid. Big fan. :)

Okay, but why is he shown in a car for going from one part of the hospital to another? How long was he in ICU? How long has he been sick? How high was his fever? How long has he been in the hospital? What were his symptoms?

The flu kills 20,000 Americans each year, 90% of them over age 65. There have been some local deaths of school children reported however. I wonder if this is a strain of Spanish flu that killed 20,000,000 in 1918.
