Weird Al Yankovic:

Prince Has No

Sense of Humor

It's the question Weird Al Yankovic fans have been asking for years -- Why won't Prince let him spoof any of his songs??

Well, now Weird Al is finally shedding some light on the topic ... saying the guy has no sense of humor.

Al was at LAX, where he explained that he ALWAYS asks for permission from the original artists before he spoofs a song ... but Prince has never given him the green light.

Yankovic said he isn't bothered by the rejection though -- saying, "There's plenty of enough people that HAVE a sense of humor."

Boom.

Al's a cool guy, part of high school memories with his hits on the radio, made a great living with his humor.
And Prince is awesome, Purple Rain is a brilliant album, not about his technical abilities on the instruments, it's pure emotion, all feel-playing and singing, great stuff

If you were a man that was the size of a 10 year old girl, your sense of humor would probably run thin too.

I did not know that Weird Al always asks permission first. That's pretty cool of him. I am not surprised Prince said no though.

Prince is not all there in the brain department. He lives in some magical world in his head. He's a major cuckoo.

Prince is a legend in his own mind, a musical prima donna. Seriously, if Michael Jackson did not mind, why not prince?

Not true. Prince made plenty of people laugh when he changed his name to that unpronounceable symbol.

When Prince was with Warner Bros. he had no say about who could record his songs, the record company did. And Weird Al knows this. When Sinead O'Connor covered Nothing Compare 2U, she got permission from WB, not Prince. Prince does get songwriting royalties when someone covers his songs. Weird Al has been in the business long enough to know how things are, why he continues to perpetuate this lie is anyone's guess. Maybe he's bitter cause MJ died, and Prince is still alive and kicking. Prince is still a Sexy MF and a brilliant guitarist.

An Weird Al needs to lose that lame ass jeri curl. I'm glad Prince is still alive. He plays guitar, not with little boys like MJ did.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery...at least that's how most people respond when spoofed. To be a "celebrity" that people connect with, you have to be able to laugh at yourself abd have the good humor to take things in stride. Prince always thought to highly of himself. He should let Weird Al spoof something and maybe give him some relevancy again. If he's too much of a stick in the mud, no worries! There's plenty of other, better artists to have fun with!
