Allen Iverson's Ex-Wife

I Want $1.2 MILLION

8/31/2013 12:42 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Allen Iverson's ex-wife is sick and tired of dragging him to court to squeeze out child support ... she's asking a judge to make him cough up the next 13 years worth RIGHT NOW -- a cool $1.2 MILLION.

TMZ broke the story ... after the couple's nasty divorce Iverson was ordered to pay $8000/month in child support for their 5 kids. Problem is, Tawanna has gone to court on numerous occasions because A.I. won't pay.

It came to a head in July when a judge threatened Iverson with jail, unless he forked over $40,000 in back support -- which he did. But Tawanna says she doesn't want to keep running into the same problem.

On August 1st she filed docs asking a judge to make A.I. cover ALL the support through October 2026 (when their youngest turns 18). After the math, it comes to $1,272,000 ... which Tawanna wants put in a trust for the children.

A court has yet to rule.

Isn't he broke despite the fact he made over 200 million? Good luck getting money out of him.

As long as the money is put into a trust and a structured system of monthly child support payments are withdrawn, I'd have no problem with it.

Iverson will not be playing until his youngest turns 18 and there is no reason she should have to continuously return to Court. The only ones who win her are the attorneys.
I don't understand why the NBA, NFL and MLB doesn't institute some sort of wage garnishment system or suspension for these deadbeat dads.

"18 years, 18 years
She got one of your kids, got you for 18 years
I know somebody paying child support for one of his kids
His baby mamma's car and crib is bigger than his"

If Allen is smart (and the jury is out there), he'll argue that since he doesn't play ball anymore he can't possibly live up to his NBA salary-influenced payment structure and get that reduced.

The smartest thing for any wealthy person to do. If you have the funds now, put the total amount in an untouchable trust, for monthly disbursements. Have the custodial parent sign a non disclosure waiver and an agreement not to file for any change in the current/accepted child support amount. That will keep the payor from been dragged back and forth to court for child support increases as their net worth rises. It also protects the payee from having the child support amount decreased if the payor goes bankrupt/broke.

They are his children! He should be paying child support without her asking for it. That's very irresponsible! And not fair. She is not a gold digger! She was with him before he even made it to NBA. There is nothing wrong with wanting your ex to pay for what he should anyway. Go Tawana!

The problem with some men is they enjoy the pleasure of sex yet not the pleasure of taking care of their responsibilities that derived from having sex. He should be a gentleman, pay what's due and move forward. Don't go through life being remembered as a piss poor dad.

Well I'll be! Another ex-wife wants the mother lode from a sports figure. Word to the wise, It's ALL about the M-O-N-E-Y ...... not L-O-V-E. Love maybe happens after they financially rape yo Butt.

Is there some reason that these sports celebs can't use a condom? Sometimes it is a wife, but very often it is a one night stand that ends up with child-support for 18 years. Hey, you play, you pay. But if you don't want that risk.....USE A CONDOM OR TWO!!

This is not an unreasonable request by any stretch of the imagination, and - considering his history of failing to pay - I don't see why a judge wouldn't agree to it. Factoring what he's made and how many children he has, 8k/month (160...0 per child) is not a high number. Force him to come up with this money, put it in a trust, and let this woman raise her kids without dragging her deadbeat ex to court 3x a year.

I agree that he should pay. However the vast discrepancy in child support in this country is atrocious. Most "regular" moms are lucky to get a couple hundred bucks a month, if anything at all. $8000 a month for their kids? Really? She should thank her lucky stars he's even capable of shelling out an amount like that. It may be a pain in the ass to take him to court when he refuses to pay, but getting an extended lump sum child support payment isn't how the law works. Im more inclined to believe that she realizes his net worth is going to continue to decline and he may be broke within a decade. Putting it in a trust fund? Yeah right. @@ Does she have any marketable skills other than makinf babies?? If she isn't able to contribute to financially suppprting her family as well, she needs to start. There's no excuse for her inability to provide as well and that shouldn't fall solely on him. Get educated (if she isn't), get employed (if she isn't) and contine to take him to court as needed. Expecting a lump sum is just ridiculous.
