Tupac's Mom

Sues for $1.1 Million

Rap Money Is Mine!

You haven't met a protective mother until you've met Tupac's mom ... she's now suing over unpaid royalties stemming from the late rapper's posthumous album ... to the tune of $1.1 million.

Afeni Shakur -- the co-administrator of Tupac's estate -- filed the lawsuit against a company called Entertainment One, claiming it breached a contract to pay Tupac's estate royalties on "Beginnings: The Lost Tapes," which was released in June 2007.

According to the suit, E1 purchased the rights to Tupac's music (previously owned by Death Row Records) in July. FYI, Death Row went bankrupt in 2006.

Afeni claims E1 now owes Tupac's estate $1.1 million ... and it better pony up fast. She also wants E1 to hand over the master recordings of all Tupac's unreleased music.

Hell hath no fury like a mother scorned. Calls to E1 weren't returned.

Ok, this is my non-legal opinion.

If Deaf Records filed for bankruptcy, the creditors would have been informed of the bankruptcy and sale of assets. And the proceeds of those assets would then be divided.

So, I assume that Tupac/Tupac's estate would have been one of the creditors and would have had to be part of the negotiations and thus can't go after those assets at a later time.

Or maybe if there were no royalties at the time and they were notified, they might have not responded. And now that there's income, I would think it's too late.

Lol...she isn't suing because she's a protective mother, she's suing because she wants the money. She's probably blown everything he left her, and needs some more fast.

A mom profiting off a known rapper's death. No surprise there.

In the end, like Kobe's mom and Brynn Cameron, she's still a woman. There is NEVER enough money.

Carrie, what makes you think his mother is due anything? It all depends on the contract he had and what happened during the bankruptcy sale.

If they purchased the rights to his music they owe her nothing.

You people saying his mom is greedy and don't deserve this money are either f*cked up or you are not parents..Why the hell should some record label who didn't give a f*ck about him get his money ?! It should go to his FAMILY since he wasn't married and didn't have any kids (that we know of) that leaves HIS MOTHER !! She isn't greedy for wanting what belonged to HER SON, the record label is greedy for keeping it from her !!

TMZ doesn't have to make her sound so noble. She is the heir to her son's estate and is doing what any heir would do.
