Found Dead

Sitting Upright in Chair

Dave Brockie --
lead singer of the crazy costumed "Beavis & Butthead" worshipped speed metal band Gwar -- is dead at age 50.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Brockie -- a.k.a. Oderus Urungus -- was found early Sunday morning dead, sitting upright in a chair at his Richmond, VA home.

We're told foul play is not suspected ... and one law enforcement sources told us, "There were no drugs found, as far as I know."

Another law enforcement source tells us it was not a suicide.  No note was found. Brockie was found by his roommate.

The band shot to superstardom because their over-the-top horror show music videos were a staple on "Beavis and Butthead" back in the day.

Loved the theatrics of GWAR. This is interesting - here is GWAR as a music intro to a Wall Street presentation... I believe the song is called "Maggots"....

No drugs were found. All the stuff I have read over the years, the only drugs he did was pot. and lots of it... RIP Oderus.

Odorus Urungus has returned to his home planet Sc*mdogia. If you never got to see GWAR's live show, you truly missed out. It was insane entertainment. They disemboweled Snooki onstage, much to the delight of everyone. I left with green alien spoodge and blood all over me. RIP Dave Brockie

I've never accused TMZ of possessing an over-abundance of journalistic integrity, but your news article on the late Dave Brockie is complete and utter rubbish. I see TMZ can't be bothered to hire competent writers and editorial staff, granted for a primarily gossip-rag publication, those two aren't entirely necessary, yet I still couldn't imagine you blatantly half-assing another human's obituary this bad. Was it completely necessary to reference drugs and suicide your sad little article or are you just trying to keep that edgy TMZ brand out there?

Aside from glaring mistakes in grammar, spelling, and syntax, and having the relative morality of Nazis without the Hugo Boss flair, all contributors to this article have exhibited a fundamental misunderstanding of search engines as a cursory use of one would have notified you that Dave Brockie was not "shot to superstardom because their over-the-top horror show music videos were a staple on "Beavis and Butthead" back in the day" and was in fact quite successful with a European tour, chart-topping sales, and a Grammy nomination after just two albums.

So perhaps while you poor souls get off on the lifestyles of the rich and worthless, take a moment to consider Dave Brockie. He was a proponent of the Do It Yourself work ethic, a man with a huge heart, and an inspiration to multiple generations of current and future artists. Sure, his name might be alien to the headlines which frequent this website, but as far as I can tell, the names that are on the headlines are people with no talent, no redeeming qualities, just famous because of you and your disgusting, shameful addictions.

Sounds like the person who wrote this article has no clue on the music of GWAR. They were famous long long before Beavis and Butthead. SMH>

Worked with this guy in the mid 90s when I was working in music studios.
He was by FAR one of the nicest, NORMAL, funny, and intelligent people I came across in all those years of working with artists of all types.
He was a really good man. Sad - too early to go. RIP
