Paula Deen Restaurant Closes

Uncle Bubba's Seafood & Oyster House -- the place where Paula Deen's empire crumbled -- just closed for good, and the way employees found out is just shocking.

The company did NOT tell its employees in an open meeting or face-to-face.  The workers showed up this morning only to find the sign down and appliances being removed from the joint.

The only explanation was posted on the restaurant's Facebook page this morning -- "Thank you for 10 great years. Uncle Bubba's is now closed."

People were pissed off, including one woman who says,  "My mother worked there for over 8 years and no one called her!!! My fiance also worked there no one called him, in fact a UB manager called him LAST NIGHT to get his availability for next week!"

Another wrote, "My mother put in some hard work for years with you & she finds out when she shows up for work this morning to be escorted by a police officer to get her belongings."

You may recall ... the GM of Bubba's sued Paula ... and during her depo Paula recounted the story where she once used the N word to describe an African American man who held her up.

We reached out to Deen's rep ... so far, no word back.

Was the General Manager that sued Paula, responsible for putting the sign out for employees to find out they have no job now? Where is the General Manager now? Questions questions questions...

It'sa hard to believe any management would do what Paula Deen's maanagement did regarding shutting down the restaurant without informing the employees!!! What a P.R. nightmare to have on top of the other problems Deen faced this past year. How much better it would have been to either hold a meeting with the employees a few days in advance, or at least notify them with a personal note sent to their homes. Not sure I would want to work for Deen under these cir***stances. I do like her, I like her products, and I'm glad she is coming out from under such negative racist comments. However, now we have very poor P.R. to deal with. We all need to remember the Golden Rule when dealing with others--Treat (Do to) others as you wish to be treated. Deen is old enough and wise enough to know this by now. Either she or someone in the Deen management surely goofed big on this.

Any black person that holds someone up is a ****** just like any white person that holds someone up is a worthless piece of ****. Has nothing to do with color!

I'd like to wait for the entire story. Could be that Paula and her brother were blindsided by a bank lien or something. Listen, blame it in the GM who brought her down in the first place. If there were never a trial, it would have been business as usual. When you go after the people on top, it's often the people below that will suffer.

Here in America, this is the typical way a reataurant closes down. I know for a fact that Hooters has done it that way and also Bennigans. There are so many that I can't name them all, the employees go home for the night and the closed signs are up the next morning.

I would hate to think Paula knew about this. Seems more like something her multi-million corporation might do.

I would hate to think she was aware of this. It seems like this has something to do with her new multi-million dollar corporation.

This isn't the first nor will it be the last place of business that does this. Using the race card all the time and this is what can happen. People need to learn how to just get along.

Not like it matters, she closes one down and opens another restaurant in Pigeon Forge. Screw the haters and get over it....Just another opportunity for liberals to take cheap shots.
