It might be the first time the United States has ever admitted it was wrong -- after mistakenly accusing Whitney Houston's cousin Dionne Warwick of owing more than $2 million in back taxes -- and TMZ has proof of the apology.
Uncle Sam filed a federal tax lien against Dionne back in 2009, claiming the singer owed $2.2 million in unpaid taxes from the 90s -- but THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WAS WRONG.
The IRS just filed new docs admitting it too, officially revoking its claim that Dionne owes the government the massive $2.2 million sum.
According to the IRS, it made an accounting mistake -- and Warwick now only owes just under one million.
There's a rift in Whitney Houston's family over where she should be laid to rest ... TMZ has learned.
Family sources tell us ... Dionne Warwick, Whitney's cousin, and Cissy Houston, Whitney's mom, both want the burial to take place in Atlanta. They believe Atlanta is the place Whitney enjoyed the most and had the fondest memories.
But the rest of the family wants Whitney buried in Newark -- where she was born, and subsequently discovered at a local Baptist church (below).
We're told Cissy's position is succinct: "Michael Jackson did not want to be buried in Neverland, and Whitney did not want to be buried in New Jersey."
We're told Cissy and Dionne caved, after other family members convinced them New Jersey is where the world will remember her most.
It's unclear why they think the world will remember Whitney more in Newark than ATL.
Photographed out in public for the first time since her cousin Whitney Houston's death on Saturday, a visibly distraught Dionne Warwick emerged from her L.A. home on Monday.
Dionne Warwick and Cissy Houston spoke with Whitney Houston by phone just before she died and say Whitney seemed fine ... TMZ has learned.
Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston, spoke with her daughter 25-30 minutes before she died and nothing seemed unusual ... sources tell TMZ. We're told they talked about attending the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party.
Dionne Warwick, Whitney's cousin, called as well ... several hours before Whitney died ... to make sure they were sitting at the same table at Clive's party. And again ... there were no signs of trouble.
The people in touch with Dionne say she is inconsolable adding, "She is an absolute mess."
